Iran is a developing country in Middle East which has experienced some political and economical turbulence during the past decades. Government of Iran, after the 1979 Islamic revolution, has devoted considerable resources on national health, including the pharmaceutical sector. As a result, health indicators have improved substantially over the past two decades and the availability and affordability of medicines have also been greatly improved. In order to fulfill the MOH mission in providing access to a sufficient quantity of safe, effective and high quality medicines that are affordable for all population, after the 1979 Islamic revolution Iran has adopted a full generic based medicine system and local production of medicines and vaccines has become one of the main goals of the national drug policy. Government of Iran has invested considerably on the pharmaceutical industry over the past decades. However, it seems that this investment, mainly due to the lack of R&D activities and unanimous subsidies, has not been proportionately fruitful for Iran’s health system. Iran drug market, especially in recent years, experienced a sharp growth and in 2004 the value of the market, including direct government subsidies to the imported medicines, became over USD1.2bn. The market has increased annually, on average more than 30% , during 1993-2003.

Proper storage conditions for pharmaceutical products and paramedical supplies are crucial to maintaining their quality, safety, and efficacy. Poor warehouse management practice may lead to wastage or blockade of financial resources, irrational utilization of drugs, shortage, or overage of essential medicines among many others. The current study aimed to assess the warehouse management practice of private pharmaceutical wholesalers in Gondar, Ethiopia. The study utilized an institution-based cross-sectional study method. The data was collected using a checklist adapted from the Logistics Indicators Assessment Tool (LIAT) developed by the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT and was analyzed using SPSS version 22. Descriptive analysis was conducted and results were presented using tables and figures. A total of five pharmaceutical wholesalers were surveyed. All of the surveyed entities were managing both medicines as well as other medical supplies, and they were supplying their products to both public and private health facilities. The majority of the facilities 4(80%) reported that they were using the Professional Electronic Data System (PEDS) for the management of pharmaceutical products in the warehouse. The overall put away/ storage performance of the facilities was 68. 75%, which can be regarded as poor (<80%). All of the facilities lack sufficient product handling equipment for unloading and moving the incoming goods. In conclusion, the overall warehouse management practice at the private pharmaceutical wholesalers was found to be poor. Shortage of product handling equipment and inadequate layout of the warehouses were the two most common problem areas identified that need major improvement.

Proteomics enables understanding the composition, structure, function and interactions of the entire protein complement of a cell, a tissue, or an organism under exactly defined conditions. Some factors such as stress or drug effects will change the protein pattern and cause the present or absence of a protein or gradual variation in abundances. The aim of this study is to explore relationship between proteomics application and drug discovery. "proteomics", "Application", and "pharmacology were the main keywords that were searched in PubMed (PubMed Central), Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The titles that were stablished by 2019, were studied and after study of the appreciated abstracts, the full texts of the 118 favor documents were extracted. Changes in the proteome provide a snapshot of the cell activities and physiological processes. Proteomics shows the observed protein changes to the causal effects and generate a complete three-dimensional map of the cell indicating their exact location. Proteomics is used in different biological fields and is applied in medicine, agriculture, food microbiology, industry, and pharmacy and drug discovery. Biomarker discovery, follow up of drug effect on the patients, and in vitro and in vivo proteomic investigation about the drug treated subjects implies close relationship between proteomics advances and application and drug discovery and development. This review overviews and summarizes the applications of proteomics especially in pharmacology and drug discovery.
