Abstract:

In this research, the fabrication of MCM-41 mesoporous material nanofibers by an electrospinning technique was performed. The MCM-41 nanofibers (MCM-41 NFs) as a novel host on the incorporation of silver has been studied in [Ag(NH3)2]NO3 precursor solution through the heat-treatment process. The formation of silver-loaded MCM-41 NFs at various calcinating temperatures were also studied. The silver-containing materials (Ag/MCM-41 NFs) were characterized using Fourier Transform InfraRed (FT-IR) spectroscopy, powder X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), UltraViolet-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The results indicated that both Ag and Ag2O NanoParticles (NPs) were loaded in MCM-41 NFs at different calcinating temperature. Silver compounds with a diameter of 10− 15 nm were highly dispersed in the framework of mesoporous silica nanofibers. The results indicated that Ag loading contents on the MCM-41NFs were 10. 53 wt%. These Ag/MCM-41 NFs Possess an enhanced antibacterial effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by preventing the aggregation of silver NPs and continuously releasing silver ions. In general, the silver-containing materials with more Ag2O NPs demonstrated an excellent antibacterial activity. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MIC) obtained 30 and 60 μ g/mL for the silver-containing MCM-41 NFs with more Ag2O NPs against E. coli and S. aureus, respectively. MCM-41 type nanofibers play an important role in the antibacterial activity of nanocomposites.

Abstract:

IN THIS WORK A NOVEL METHOD IS PRESENTED FOR THE ELECTROCHEMICAL MODIFICATION OF MESOPOROUS SILICA AND PREPARATION OF ORDERED POROUS ELECTRODES. PREPARATION OF AMINE FUNCTIONALIZED THIN FILMS AT THE ELECTRODE SURFACE WAS ACHIEVED BY THE REPORTED METHODS AS ELECTRO ASSISTED SELF ASSEMBLY (EASA) UNDER POTENTIOSTATIC OR GALVANOSTATIC CONDITIONS. EASA WERE APPLIED ON GLASSY CARBON (GC) SUBSTRATES IN THE PRESENCE OF CETRIMONIUM BROMIDE (CTAB) AS STRUCTURE DIRECTING AGENT AND TETRAETHOXYSILANE AS SILICA PRECURSOR. [1] THE POROSITY OF FILM AND ITS MORPHOLOGY HAVE BEEN CHARACTERIZED BY TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY (TEM). VOLTAMMETRIC BEHAVIOR OF SOME ELECTROACTIVE PROBES SUCH AS POTASSIUM HEXACYANOFERRATE (III), HEXAAMINE RUTHENIUM CHLORIDE AND CATECHOL HAVE BEEN STUDIED AT THE DESIRED MODIFIED ELECTRODE. NEXT ELECTROCHEMICAL OXIDATION OF A BUFFERIC SOLUTIONS OF CATECHOL HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT ON MODIFIED ELECTRODE WITH AMINE FUNCTIONALIZED SILICA FILM IN ORDER TO FORMATION OF C-N BOND FORMATION BETWEEN CATECHOL AND AMINE GROUPS. [2] THE CATECHOL CONCENTRATION, PH OF SOLUTION, THE ELECTROCHEMICAL TECHNIQUES AND THE TIME OF FUNCTIONALIZATION HAVE BEEN OPTIMIZED FOR THE PREPARED FILMS. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT A POROUS AND ELECTROACTIVE ELECTRODE IS OBTAINED BY ELECTROCHEMICAL GENERATION OF REACTIVE O-QUINONE AT THE SURFACE OF ELECTRODE WITH WELL-ORGANIZED AND AMINE FUNCTIONALIZED MESOPOROUS SILICA THIN FILM.FINALLY THE ELECTROCHEMICAL BEHAVIOR OF THE PRESENTED ELECTROACTIVE POROUS ELECTRODES HAVE BEEN STUDIED BY CYCLIC AND HYDRODYNAMIC VOLTAMMETRY AND THE LOADING OF AMINOCATECHOLS IN STRUCTURE HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED BY THERMOGRAVIMETRIC AND ELEMENTAL ANALYSIS.

Abstract:

THIS STUDY HAS BEEN FOCUSED ON TWO TYPES OF MESOPOROUS SILICA NANOPARTICLES AS INSULIN DELIVERY SYSTEMS WHICH WERE SYNTHESIZED VIA SOL-GEL AND HYDROTHERMAL PROCESS. THE MORPHOLOGY AND STRUCTURE OF THE SILICA NANOPARTICLES WERE CHARACTERIZED BY DIFFERENT ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES SUCH AS SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE (SEM), X-RAY DIFFRACTION ANALYSIS (XRD), FOURIER TRANSFORM INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY (FTIR) AND BRUNAUER-EMMETT-TELLER (BET). THE RESULTS SHOWED THE AMORPHOUS STRUCTURE OF MCM-41 AND SBA-15 IN MESOPOROUS SILICA PARTICLES WHICH BOTH OF THEM HAVE A NARROW PORE SIZE DISTRIBUTION. ALSO, MORPHOLOGY OF MCM-41 WAS ROUND AND SBA-15 WAS NEARLY WHEAT-LIKE WITH ALMOST HOMOGENEOUS SIZE DISTRIBUTION.

Abstract:

Ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) adsorbents have been prepared using spherical SBA-16 mesoporous silica, as a template. The synthesized materials were studied by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms. OMCs have been tested for adsorption of dibenzothiophene (DBT) as model sulfur compound from gasoline fuels. The OMC showed higher sulfur adsorption due to large mesopore volume and high specific surface area. The results confirm the significance of the adsorbent pore size and its surface chemistry for the adsorption of DBT from petroleum fuels.Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were used to fit equilibrium data for OMC. The equilibrium results were best demonstrated by the Langmuir isotherm.
