Abstract:

Background and Aim: Children are one of the most vulnerable groups in the population. Child abuse is a complex phenomenon with multiple causes. The purpose of this study was to do a confirmatory factor analysis of child abuse potential inventory among Ahvazi children in Ahvaz, Iran.Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive-analytical study, including all Ahvazi primary school pupils aged 8-13 years in the academic year 2015-2016.The sample size for confirmatory factor analysis was determined based on the number of questions per parameter. The variance was extracted on the basis of mean scores and composite reliability for structural equation modeling was determined based on the first-order and second-order confirmatory factor analysis using the LISREL software. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis revealed a short form of the child abuse's original 3-actor structure, including the psychological, physical and neglect scales. The outcomes indicated that the first-order model was a better fit for the data than the second. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the Ahvazi version of the child abuse potential inventory questionnaire is acceptable from a psychometric point of view. We think it is essential to take into consideration the diversity of perspectives between parents and children in future research in this area.

Abstract:

The aim of the present study is to determine the factor structure of "Social Phobia Scale» (SPIN) in non-clinical sample of Iranian adolescents. For this purpose, initially, by implementing measures on 311 male and female students in second and third of high school, which cluster sampling method were selected from five regions of the South, North, East, West, and Central Tehran, the factor structure of instruments were analyzed by using exploratory factor analysis.  In this study, the SPIN was conceptualized in terms of four factors: fear and avoidance of criticism and embarrassment, fear of physical symptoms in interactive situations, fear and avoidance of strangers and authorities; and fear and avoidance of meetings and being center of attention. In the following, in order to examine the above structure, confirmatory factor analysis was used. The results indicated a good fit of factor structures 3, 4 and 5. While the indices of the four exploratory factor analysis of the present study was more desirable. Also, the last examination by using Cronbach's alpha method was indicator of good ending for 4 factors  and the last examination by using the average correlation between items demonstrate good ending for all three models 3, 4 and 5. The results of the present study provide evidence for the validity of the factor structure of the SPIN in Iranian teenagers. Totally, the results of the present study provide evidence for the validity of the factor structure of the SPIN in Iranian teenagers.

Abstract:

The main purpose of this study was to investigate factorial construction of Occupational Burnout Questionnaire in a group of TV employees. A sample consisting of 187 TV employees were selected by cluster sampling. Factorial construction of Occupational Burnout Questionnaire was investigated through exploratory factor analysis and Confirmatory factor analysis. Exploratory factor analysis specified that 4 items had a high factorial effect in more than 1 factor. Therefore, for the assessment of models by Confirmatory factor analysis, in a number of models these items (4 items mentioned above) were eliminated and the others placed on 2 factors. As a result, this investigation showed that for the observed data a model with 3 factors had a more Concordance to 18 items.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to test the confirmatory factor structure and validation of the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire in a nonclinical sample of 13 to17 year old adolescents. The study was descriptive and cross-sectional. Seven hundred and forty eight students were selected from the high schools of Qods (a district of Tehran province) by multistage random sampling. The participants completed the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire (Adolescent Form; Asadi Younesi, 2011), the Children's Perceptions of Inter parental Conflict Scale (Grych, Seid, & Fincham, 1992), the Youth Self-report (Achenbach, 1991)), the Family Communication Scale (Olson, 1995), and the Family Satisfaction scale (Barnes & Olson, 1985). The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the fourteen-factor of the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire. To investigate divergent and criterion validity, the Pearson correlation coefficient was used. The results indicated that the correlation of the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire with the other instruments of the study were between 0.21 and 0.57.These results were more satisfactory for the intensity of the conflict part of the parent-adolescent conflict questionnaire than for the frequency part of the questionnaire. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.97 for the frequency of the parent-adolescent conflict and was 0.96 for the intensity of parent- adolescent conflict. The test-retest coefficients were 0.76 and 0.75 for the frequency of parent- adolescent conflict and the intensity of the parent-adolescent conflict, respectively. The findings suggest that the Parent-Adolescent Conflict Questionnaire have good psychometric properties and can be used in research settings and family counseling in Iran.

Abstract:

the aim of present study was to assess the reliability, validity and confirmatory factor structure of the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire–Adolescent Form (Philips & Power, 2007).The Persian version of the questionnaire was prepared using double-translation technique. The psychometric properties were examined by three independent studies (N1=180; N2=80; N3=400).In the first two studies the reliability of the questionnaire was examined based on internal consistency, item-test correlations and test-retest methods, and the validity of the questionnaire was examined using correlation between subscales and criterion validity. In the third study the confirmatory factor structure of the questionnaire was assessed. The range of Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of three subscales (.73 to.82) and total scale (.79) indicated that the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire had a good internal consistency. Item scores and the total score of the corresponding subscales correlated significantly (r=.38 to r=.72) and the test-retest correlation values (.65 to.71) suggested that the scale was stable. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the four factors model of the questionnaire. The correlations among the subscales and correlation coefficient model between depression and anxiety dimensions indicated a good criterion validity. The findings suggest that the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire has a satisfactory psychometric properties, thereby providing support for the relevance of using this scale in Iranian population.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Depression, anxiety, and stress and measuring their levels are regarded as important issues in health. This research aimed at investigating the sex equivalence and invariance of Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) in Iranian male and female students.Materials and methods: A correlational study was done in 976 students (647 females and 329 males) in Shahid Beheshti University, 2014. The study population included all new students in undergraduate courses selected via complete enumeration. The participants responded to DASS and Ryff's Psychological Well-being Scales (RSPWB-SF). Data analysis was carried out in Amos 24.Results: The three factor model (depression, anxiety, and stress) was confirmed through CFA for all students and goodness-of-fit indices showed that the model well fitted the data. The negative correlation between DASS and RSPWB-SF also confirmed the validity of the scale. Moreover, factor structure of the scale was invariant between males and females which showed that the interpretations of latent structures were the same between the two groups. The results of ANOVA also showed no significant differences between male and female students in anxiety and stress but a slight difference was found between them in depression. Conclusion: The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale could be used as an assessment tool in research studies and clinical situations in both gender.
