In recent decades, the use of mixed methods research has increased in doctoral theses in educational administration and higher education. This study examined the approach, design, and research methods used in these theses. In order to answer the research questions, the abstract and the third chapter of 85 doctoral theses were reviewed. The findings of the study show that nearly three-quarters (73%) of the studies were conducted with the goal of developing a pattern or model. Additionally, 63% of the studies were conducted using a sequential exploratory mixed methods approach. In the qualitative phase of the studies, 60% used a grounded theory approach. In the quantitative phase of the studies, 60% used multiple correlation analysis. The findings of the study, in addition to providing implications for teaching quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research methods in doctoral programs, emphasize the need for innovation in research designs used in doctoral dissertations in the fields of behavioral sciences, particularly in the area of pattern development.

The purpose of this study is to analyze oil and tax revenues in the Iranian economy. Applying the stochastic dynamic general equilibrium approach, a model for the oil exporting economy was simulated. In order to recover the tax system, oil and tax revenues added to the model as a part of government’s revenue. The present study applies Dynare software with Matlab to estimate the model’s parameters by Bayesian statistical techniques based on Monte Carlo method with Markov chain in the form of Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. The period of study is from 1368 to 1396 in a quarterly setting. In order to analyze the shocks, two scenarios were designed. In the first scenario, it was assumed that the government has oil revenues and all oil revenues are spent by the government so that the government does not rely on tax revenues. In the second scenario, it is assumed that 40% of the government's oil revenues are injected into the Development Fund and a percentage of it, is allocated to facilitate the production sector, and the government mostly relies on the taxes. The results show that the tax and oil shock by reducing dependence on oil and reliance on tax revenues, has negative impact on macroeconomic variables in the short term, but in the long run, with increasing tax revenues, production and, consequently, investment, consumption, employment has increased. Background: Hospital accreditation is a systematic external evaluation of a hospital’s structures, processes and results (outputs/ outcome) by an independent professional accreditation body using pre-established optimum standards. Hospital accreditation has an important role in improving the quality, safety, effectiveness and efficacy of health care services. The effectiveness of an accreditation system depends on the quality and conformity of its methods, standards and surveyors. This study aimed to evaluate the hospital accreditation method from the perspective of Iranian hospital managers.Methods: This descriptive, applied and cross-sectional study was carried out in 2015 using a valid and reliable questionnaire. The study population consisted of 914 hospital managers. Overall 547 hospital managers were surveyed through stratified random sampling. SPSS software was used for data analysis.Results: Almost 71.7 percent of hospitals achieved grade one and above in the first round of national accreditation survey. The mean score of managers’ satisfaction of hospital accreditation method was 3.21±0.63 out of 5 (Average). About 38 percent of hospital managers were satisfied with the hospital accreditation method. Most complaints were related to lack of reliability among surveyors and their low knowledge, skills and experience. Hospital managers were satisfied with surveyors’ attitude and adequacy of the number of survey days. Hospital managers mostly believed that accreditation is better to be done by Ministry of Health, compulsory, and every two years. About 95 percent of hospital managers agreed that self-assessment is necessary and beneficial prior to the accreditation survey.Conclusion: Hospital managers were moderately satisfied with the national accreditation system. Developing job description and person specification for accreditation surveyors and recruiting them accordingly, and providing professional education and training for them help improve the effectiveness of Iranian hospital accreditation method. The method of hospital accreditation in Iran has to be changed.Self-assessment, unannounced surveys, review of hospital key performance indicators and patient satisfaction surveys should be added to the current scheduled on-site surveys to enhance the credibility of the accreditation result.
