Abstract:

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of stress-based group therapy based on awareness-based strategies for emotion regulation and cognitive avoidance in female patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design with control group and quarterly follow-up. The statistical population included all female patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder who in 1400 had referred to counseling and help centers in Kermanshah. Among them, 30 people were selected by purposive sampling and randomly assigned to the same experimental and control groups. The experimental group received stress-based treatment intervention based on awareness attention as a group, once a week in 8 sessions of 90 minutes; the control group was placed on a waiting list. Gross and John emotion regulation questionnaires and Sexton and Dougas cognitive avoidance questionnaires were used to collect data. Findings from one-way analysis of variance in Mankova text showed that stress-based therapy based on awareness attention significantly reduces the scores of suppression and cognitive avoidance and significantly increases the scores of the cognitive reassessment component of the experimental group in the post-test phase. And has been followed up. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that in order to manage emotion regulation strategies and reduce cognitive avoidance of obsessive-compulsive patients, the results of group therapy based on stress reduction based on mindfulness as a modern psychotherapy in counseling centers and Benefited therapy.

Abstract:

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has posed new challenges to the global health sector, causing significant psychological distress in different societies. Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the correlation of personality traits and cognitive emotion regulation strategies with health anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This descriptive, correlational study was conducted on 200 individuals, who were selected via convenience sampling among all residents of Babol (capital of Babol County, Iran) from March to September 2020. The data collection tools included the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2006), Personality Traits Questionnaire (1985), and Health Anxiety Inventory (2002). For data analysis, Pearson's correlation test and stepwise regression analysis were performed in SPSS version 26. Results: The multiple correlation coefficients of variables, as well as the regression coefficients of health anxiety, were significant for emotion regulation strategies and personality traits (P<0. 01). The standardized beta coefficients revealed that rumination (β, =0. 260), catastrophizing (β, =0. 234), and refocus on planning (β, =-0. 192) could significantly predict health anxiety, respectively. Conclusion: According to the present results, personality traits and cognitive emotion regulation strategies had significant effects on the health anxiety of people during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is recommended to implement psychological training to reinforce positive strategies for cognitive emotion regulation.

Abstract:

Introduction: Tension- type headache is a common psychosomatic disease with physical and psychological symptoms causes impairment in different lives. As stress and emotional distress are the start-up factors in different headaches, emotion regulation can be considered as an important factor in effective control and adaptation of this disorder. The present research is trying to investigate the effect of the training of emotion regulation on the level of distress tolerance and reduction of emotion regulation difficulties on female patients with tension headache disorders. Methods: This is a semi experimental study with pretest- posttest design with a control and experimental groups. The statistical random sampling in this research were taken in Isfahan in the year 91 including female patients effected with tension- type headaches in two groups. 30 patients were selected and randomly assign to experimental and control groups. Before treatment, the patients received questionaires regarding the difficulties of emotion regulations (DERS) and tention tolerance (DTS). Finally, post-test and follow-up activities along with evaluation and measurment of the results were implemented. The duration of the treatment for the research group was 8 sessions (one session each week) and follow-up activities were effected 30 days after post-test. The data was analyzed by spss-20 software with covariance method. Results: Findings after analysis showed that emotion regulations led to the decrease of the level of the strict difficulties of emotion regulation and also enhancement of distress tolerance of the patients bearing headache tensions. (P<0.001).Conclusion: Based on these findings, it can be claimed that giving the trainings regarding emotion regulations, while helping patients through giving awareness about their positive and negative emotions, especially by helping them to have access to and put forward their difficulties in due course, can reduce drastically the difficulties of emotion regulation and can enhance tension tolerance level in female patients.
