Abstract

 THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF POLY (VINYLIDENE FLUORIDE) (PVDF) ARE DEPENDENT ON THE FORMED MORPHOLOGY AND THE DEGREE OF CRYSTALLIZATION TAKING PLACE DURING PROCESSING. IN THIS STUDY, THE NONISOTHERMAL MELT CRYSTALLIZATION KINETICS FOR PVDF AND ITS BLEND WITH POLY (N- VINYLPYRROLIDONE) (PVP) WERE COMPARED USING DSC. THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA WERE EVALUATED BASED ON TOBIN MODEL AND CRYSTALLIZATION RATE COEFFICIENT. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE TOBIN CRYSTALLIZATION RATE CONSTANTS (K) INCREASE WITH INCREASING COOLING RATE ( J=2.5 -20OC/MIN), SUGGESTING AN INCREASED CRYSTALLIZATION RATE WITH INCREASING COOLING RATE. ALSO, IN COMPARED WITH NEAT PVDF THE TOBIN CRYSTALLIZATION RATE CONSTANTS DECREASE FOR PVDF/PVP FILMS SHOW THOSE CRYSTALLIZATION RATES WERE REDUCED.
