Abstract

Introduction: MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS is a progressive, chronic demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, affecting mostly young adults from 15 to 50 years. In patients, the disease substantially interferes with daily activities and family, social and working life. The objective of this project was to translate the MSQOL-54 into Persian, and to make it available to the clinical research and practice.Material and Methods: In order to using MSQOL-54 in Iranian patients, through forward, backward translation and patients cognitive debriefing, we provided Persian version of MSQOL-54 questionnaire.Results: 20 patients with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS filled out the questionnaire. In general, the questions were understandable and acceptable by patients, with an average time of 17minutes. Questions 4,9 were accepted culturally and sexual function questions filled out only by married patients.Conclusion: The Persian version of MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS MSQOL-54 is now a useful tool for assessing HRQoL of patients with as a routine part of clinical practice and clinical research. The next step will be to assess the validity and reliability of Persian version of MSQOL-54 on Iranian patients with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS.
