Background: Physician-assisted suicide is one of the features with very different legal solutions in the world. In SERBIA, physician-assisted suicide is a crime, within a crime of the assisted suicide. The possibility of the leg-islation of the voluntary active euthanasia may open the door to the decriminalization of the physician-assisted suicide. Methods: Data were obtained from the Clinical Hospital Center in Kragujevac, Republic of SERBIA collected during 2015. The research included 88 physicians: 57 male physicians (representing 64. 77% of the sample) and 31 female physicians (35. 23% of the sample). Due to the nature, subject, and hypothesis of the research, the authors used descriptive method and the method of the theoretical content analysis. Results: We have raised numerous questions. A slight majority of the physicians (58%) believes that physician-assisted suicide should be legalized, while 42% is for another solution. 90. 9% took a viewpoint that it is completely unacceptable legalization of the physician-assisted suicide for all age groups, while the remaining 9. 1% is to such legislative move. From the other side, 40. 7% of respondents would prescribe a lethal dose of the medicament to the patient, who is in the terminal stage of the incurable disease, but, 59. 3% would not do it. Interesting is that 13. 8% of the physician had a patient who asked for the information how to commit suicide, and 12. 5% gave them such information. Conclusion: Physicians in SERBIA are divided on this issue. The majority of them are for the legalization of medical assistance to suicide, but there is a strong division among them on various issues.

Background: We aimed to determine the socio-economic factors associated with unmet healthcare needs of the population aged 20 and over in SERBIA. Methods: We used data from the 2013 National Health Survey (NHS) of the population of SERBIA. We focused only on the data concerning the population aged 20 and over. The final sample thus included 13, 765 partici-pants. The logistic regression was used to examine the socio-economic factors associated with unmet health care needs. Results: According to the data obtained in this study, 26. 2% of the population aged 20 and over reported un-met health care needs during the previous 12 months. The multivariate analysis shows that significant indicators of unmet healthcare needs include: gender, age, marital status, level of education, financial and employment status. Conclusion: Females, the elderly and those with the lowest levels of education and household income, as well as those who are divorced and unemployed are at highest risk of unmet healthcare needs. Different policies and approaches should be taken into consideration when it comes to vulnerable population groups in order to re-duce the currently existing gaps to a minimum and provide more equal opportunities for health care to all citi-zens.

The presence of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) is a significant indicator of water quality, having in mind that several genera have the quality of producing cyanotoxins, which are harmful to animals, plants and humans. Seven lakes in Vojvodina (Republic of SERBIA) were examined in May and September 2007 for cyanobacterial presence and cyanotoxins content, Chl a concentration and index of phosphatase activity as the indicators of water quality. In the spring period, cyanobacteria species were not dominant in only 2 of 14 water samples. Microcystins were detected in all of the lakes examined. The concentrations of microcystins ranged from 6.66 mg/L (Provala Lake) to 199.9 and 238 mg/L (Palic and Ludas Lake respectively).The investigations conducted on 7 water ecosystems in Vojvodina, regarding the basic parameters of eutrophication, Chl a concentration and phosphatase activity index, have rendered the examined ecosystems immensely endangered due to significant water quality deterioration. It was determined that the intensification of eutrophication processes has been linked to the increased presence and abundance of cyanobacteria as well as significant toxin production.
