Abstract:

This study is aims to present the causal model of the effect of PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES on motivational orientations with regard to the mediating role of the function of thinking STYLES. The research method was correlation of the path type analysis. 352 people were selected by stratified random sampling from undergradduate students of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, who answered the questionaires of Baumrind PARENTING STYLES, Sternberg and Wagner thinking STYLES and the academic motivation scale of Vallerand et al. Data analysis was performed by path analysis by AMOS software. The results showed that authoritative and permissive PARENTING STYLES have a positive and negative effect on internal motivation, respectively; but authoritarian style had no direct effect on intrinsic motivation. PARENTING STYLES did not have a direct effect on external motivation; but among PARENTING STYLES, only authoritarian style had a positive effect on amotivation. Executive thinking style had a positive and significant effect on internal and external motivation. Authoritative PARENTING style mediated by executive thinking style can increase students' internal and external academic motivation. Therefore, the tendency of families to have an authoritative educational style influences the choice of children's thinking style and internalization of academic motivation.

Abstract:

the aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of intrinsic motivation in the relationship between PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES and academic resilience among high school girls. Three hundred and twelve second grade high school students were selected from 18th educational district of Tehran, Iran using random multistage cluster sampling method. The participants completed the PERCEPTIONS of Parents Scale (Grolnick, Deci & Ryan, 1997), the Academic Resilience scale (Martin, 2003), and the Intrinsic Motivation scale (Vallerand & et al, 1992). The results indicated that PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES related significantly and positively to academic resilience. The results of path analysis indicated that PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES indirectly and positively related to academic resilience through intrinsic motivation. The PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES explained 15% of the variance in intrinsic motivation. The PARENTING STYLES and intrinsic motivation accounted for 35% of the variance in academic resilience. The findings supported the mediating role of intrinsic motivationin the relationship between PERCEPTIONS of PARENTING STYLES and academic resilience.

Abstract:

Introduction: The PARENTING STYLES used in different periods of childhood can have an effect on child personality evolution. Child and parents relationship in addition to comfort provision and feeling reinforcement like trust, confidence, security and independence, can be a predisposing factor for physical, psychological and especially social growth and maturity or vice versa in adolescence. Objective: This study was conducted to determine PARENTING STYLES in parents with adolescence in Rasht. Methods: The present study is a descriptive study in which 150 adolescents between 14-16 years old were selected by cluster sampling from Rasht high schools. Data collection instrument consisted of a two parts questionnaire including adolescent and family demographic information and parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) for measuring mother and father´s relationship quality that were completed by adolescents and analyzed by SPSS 15.Results: The findings showed that mean and standard deviation of care and protection were 15.39±3.68 and 16.63±4.22 in fathers, and 13.45±4.22 and 14.40±4.81 in mothers respectively and parents based on instrument grading had "Affectionless control".Conclusion: The results showed that parents were cool with children. They inhibit children's independence and progress by overprotection and low care. This can be due to lack of knowledge related to parent’s relationship and good PARENTING STYLES in different periods of growth and development and irrecoverable complication on adolescent future life that highlights public education necessity before having children based on structural planning for PARENTING.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to predict students’ attachment STYLES Based on Parents PARENTING STYLES in isfahan city. The research method was descriptive correlation type. The statistical population included all high school female students in Isfahan city and the sample included 302 persons who were chosen by random multiple cluster sampling method. The tools of experimental were included PARENTING STYLES questionnaire of Baumrind and adult attachment questionnaire of Hazan and Shaver. The acquired data of questionnaires were analyzed by using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis and step by step analysis. The results showed that among subscales attachment STYLES, there was positive and meaningful relationship among attachment style secure with PARENTING style authoritative and attachment style ambivalent with PARENTING style permissive but there was negative and meaningful relationship among attachment style avoidant with PARENTING style authoritative. The results of regression analysis showed that PARENTING STYLES were convenient predictors for attachment STYLES.

Abstract:

This study examines whether the different STYLES of PARENTING through the creation of different attachment STYLES can be effecttive in marital infidelity proneness. Participants in the study were 268 married students, aged ranging 20 to 46, who were selected by cluster random sampling method based on gender and educational groups. Data were collected by PARENTING STYLES questionnaire, attachment STYLES questionnaire, and infidelity proneness questionnaire. The data was analyzed using correlation and path analysis. The results show that authoritative PARENTING style by creating a secure attachment plays no role in infidelity proneness. Authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful PARENTING STYLES through the creation of insecure attachment have effects in infidelity proneness. This study emphasizes on the fundamental role of PARENTING STYLES and attachment STYLES in the handling of marital bright future and recommends parents to learn authoritative PARENTING style and change their authoritative, permissive, and neglectful ones.
