Abstract:

Background: A MANDIBULAR INFECTED BUCCAL CYST is defined as these which occur on the BUCCAL and distal aspects of the roots of partly or fully erupted molars with vital pulps.Case Report: In this article, two cases of MANDIBULAR INFECTED BUCCAL CYSTs have been described. The CYSTs are located on the BUCCAL aspect of MANDIBULAR second premolar and second molar teeth. Both of them were vital without a past history of infection or periodontal disease. In the microscopic view both of CYSTs lined by nonkeratinized stratified squamous epithelium, a chronic inflammatory cell infiltration in adjacent connective tissue was present.According to different hypotheses, infection plays an important role in CYST formation by creating periodontal pocket and odontogenic epithelial hyperplasia. In view of clinical and microscopic findings, these CYSTs were similar to MANDIBULAR INFECTED BUCCAL CYST and paradental CYST.

Abstract:

We report an unusual case of primary hydatid CYST of the MANDIBULAR angle without glands involvement, in the left supraclavicular region of the neck with no involvement of any other regions of the body. In July 2012, a 25-yr old woman, from Golestan Province, Northeast Iran was admitted to our ENT Clinic, with one-year history of a progressively increasing swelling, pain and gradually growing mass located in the left side of neck region. The patient was diagnosed by Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FANC) and histopathology examination. Hydatid CYST should be considered in differential diagnosis of soft tissue mass such as branchial cleft CYST (BCC) and or dermoid CYST in the cervical region especially in endemic areas. Moreover, FANC could be recommended as a valuable, rapid, simple, and safe procedure to diagnose hydatid CYST especially in unusual locations.

Abstract:

A 38 year-old man with a history of painful swelling in the left MANDIBULAR angle region and skin lesions on the upper chest is reported. The symptoms, findings, diagnostic criteria and the approach for treatment are reviewed.Histological examinations of MANDIBULAR CYSTic and skin nodular lesions were reported as “Inflamed Keratinous CYST” and “Basal Cell Carcinoma”. It is important to consider the syndrome encountering multiple jaw CYSTs because of the high recurrence rate, associated medical problems, and need for close life-long follow-up of this syndrome.

Abstract:

Introduction: A dentigerous CYST is the most commonly developed CYST of the jaw. It is most frequently associated with impacted canines and MANDIBULAR third molars. Bilateral dentigerous CYSTs are rare and are generally associated with developmental syndromes or systemic diseases.Case Presentation: We report on an eight-year-old boy who presented with a complaint of bilateral malposed first MANDIBULAR molars. There was no complaint of pain and no swelling. An intraoral examination revealed BUCCAL tipping of both the right and left first MANDIBULAR molars with slight swelling. The overlying mucosa was completely normal and there was no tenderness on palpation. This unusual case occurrence associated with the crowns of the bilateral impacted lower second molars. There are no cases reported with bilateral dentigerous CYST involving MANDIBULAR second molars. The clinical and radiographic findings, especially the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) views, were suggestive of dentigerous CYSTs.Conclusions: After the surgical removal of the CYSTs, the specimens were sent for histopathological evaluation. A microscopic examination suggested INFECTED dentigerous CYSTs.

Abstract:

Radiolucent odontogenic lesions are considered as one of the main groups in the pathologic lesions of jaws. Proper diagnosis associated with correct treatment planning is therefore necessary. In this study, a total of 196 lucent odontogenic lesions were found between 1056 lesions which had been originally referred to the Oral and Maxillofacial pathology department at Beheshti Dental School. Cases were including 103 male and 93 female patients. Results showed that the most common lesion as being Radicular CYST with 49 cases (25%) and the least .common Lesion as both Lateral Periodontal CYST and MANDIBULAR BUCCAL INFECTED CYST, with only 1 case (0.51%). The peak incidence was observed in second decade of patient's life. These lesions were seen at 40% of the cases in maxilla and 60% of the cases in mandible.

Abstract:

Introduction: Radicular CYSTs (RCs) are the most common odontogenic CYSTic lesions with an inflammatory origin. Radicular CYSTs originate from epithelial remnants of the periodontal ligament as a result of inflammation, which is generally a consequence of pulp necrosis. Dental caries is the most common etiology of RCs and theyaremost commonlyreported in primary MANDIBULAR molars. Treatment options include root canal therapy, extraction and surgery. Case Presentation: A 10. 5 year-old patient presented to the Pediatric Dentistry Department of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) with a RC associated with a primary MANDIBULAR second molar. We performed non-surgical conservative treatment by extracting the involved tooth. After two years of follow up, the lesion healed and the second premolar erupted.

Abstract:

Dentigerous CYSTs are developmental odontogenic lesions and represent the second most common type of jaw CYSTs, typically associated with the crowns of unerupted or impacted teeth. They are frequently discovered incidentally during routine radiographic evaluations, particularly in younger individuals. The present study describes a rare case of a 62-year-old edentulous female who presented with purulent discharge beneath her maxillary complete denture. Clinical and radiographic examinations, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), revealed an INFECTED dentigerous CYST associated with an impacted maxillary canine and an unusual pattern of coronal tooth resorption. This finding is atypical, as dentigerous CYSTs are more commonly linked to root resorption. The case underscores the diagnostic value of CBCT in evaluating atypical presentations of odontogenic CYSTs and highlights the importance of early detection and management to prevent complications such as infection and structural compromise.
