Abstract:

Purpose: Food security is a critical global challenge that is influenced by research and innovation in the field. Therefore, the objective of this study is to analyze the scientific output of developing countries in food security and examine its relationship with patents and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).Methodology: This applied research utilized the Scientometric approach. A total of 8,416 papers published between 1992-2023 in the field of food security by developing countries were included in the study using citation databases from Clarivate Analytics. Additionally, patent registrations from the WIPO database and GDP data from the World Bank were analyzed. Information was collected through note-taking, and the data was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient.Findings: The findings reveal an upward trend in the publication and citation of scientific outputs related to food security in developing countries. China has higher numbers of papers, patents, GDP, and food production index compared to Iran, Japan, and South Korea. There is also a positive correlation observed between population and the number of papers, gross production and the number of papers, food production and the number of published papers, as well as the number of patents and papers citing scientific outputs of countries. Conclusion: These results highlight the significant relationship between increasing scientific output, GDP, the number of patents, and food security. Greater emphasis on food security contributes to enhanced scientific output, GDP, and innovation. Similarly, increasing scientific output, GDP, and innovation positively impact food security in countries.Value: This study emphasizes the importance of scientific outputs in driving technological advancements, innovations, and ultimately, ensuring food security in developing countries.

Abstract:

The most modern techniques in biotechnology owe their existence to the discovery of DNA cloning and the genetic manipulation of organisms. However Biotechnology is not new science In fact, many applications represent old practices with new methodologies. Human have been used organisms for their benefit in many processes for several thousand years. Therefore, one way of thinking about biotechnology is to consider two categories of activities: those that are traditional and familiar and those that are relatively new. Study of ethical and social concern in these categories makes this clear that there are many unanswered questions in this fields that requires caution regarding to public using of this technologies.Genetic manipulation (GM) especially cloning is a wonderful advancement in technology and knowledge. However, Professional and scientific societies should make clear that any attempt to create a child by somatic cell nuclear transfer and implantation into a woman's body would be at this time an irresponsible, unethical, and unprofessional act. The environmental safety aspects of GM crops vary considerably according to local conditions. Different GM organisms include different genes inserted in different ways. This means that individual GM foods and their safety should be assessed on a case-by-case basis and that it is not possible to make general statements on the safety of all GM foods.

Abstract:

The purpose followed in this study was to analyze barriers of agriculture biotechnology development in Iran. The research method was a descriptive and correlational one. The statistical population consisted of agricultural biotechnology specialists in the Tehran Province of whom N=108 were taken through census method to take part in the study. Finally 85 questionnaires (research instrument) were collected and analyzed. The instrument face and content validities were corrected and confirmed as based on the judgment of a panel of experts in agricultural extension and education and as well in biotechnology. Reliability confirmation of the questionnaire was achieved, through an Alpha value reported as 0.88. The results of factor analysis regarding variations in barriers of agricultural biotechnology development could finally be explained by four factors of: managerial (29.12%), extension and information barriers (23.88%), scientific- educational obstacles (14.06%), and finally legally imposed barriers (10.53%).

Abstract:

The major areas of research and development in biotechnology are maturing at a rapid rate, and may soon converge with one another. These emerging biotechnology areas range from the development of new medicines and drugs, genetically engineered foods, biologically controlled industrial manufacturing processes, and biologically based computing devices to the creation of new industrial materials and devices based upon biological structures and the use of biotechnology in food production. Each of these research areas carries the potential for strong societal reaction. This paper sets out to clarify the future of biotechnology

Abstract:

Biotechnology, the science of manipulation of biological organisms to make benefit products that used for human life and health. Biotechnology contributes to such diverse areas as food production, waste disposal, mining, and medicine.Although biotechnology has existed since ancient times, some of its most dramatic advances have come in more recent years. Modern achievements include the transferal of a specific gene from one organism to another (by means of a set of genetic engineering techniques known as transgenics); the maintenance and growth of genetically uniform plant and animal-cell cultures, called clones; and the fusing of different types of cells to produce beneficial medical products such as monoclonal antibodies, which are designed to attack a specific type of foreign substance.

Abstract:

Considering the serious challenges facing humanity, arising from the effective forces which shape the future (i.e., population, human needs, globalization and climate change), planning for the future in all areas of life is indispensable. Perhaps the most important human achievement to face the inevitable picture of the future is his increasing knowledge or technology, which is the fifth most effective force, man-made, inspired by Ispired by, and effective on, the nature, and has no boundaries. But the question is that how far can this potential go without endangering the security? Which approaches are more appropriate and rational, “conservative” or “rceptive”? The proper and efficient use of biotechnology is necessary to examine possible future developments, because it will surely create a dramatic development in the major areas of human life from agriculture to therapeutic areas at national and international levels. Therefore, ethics and biosafety are in dire need of that time. In the flat world of the future, when the man and the machine are united and their boundary is abolished, universal rules will govern human society in the field of technology. So, do we still have to witness worthless controversy over the gene transfer? Do we still have to get trapped in the scientific routineness and fight with innovation? How will our grandchildren label our current planning for water, soil and life? This article discusses the status of ethics and biosafety in in relation to predicted future developments.
