Abstract:

Introduction: Childhood is one of the most sensitive periods of life, providing an opportunity for comprehensive growth and development. Therefore, maintaining physical and mental health during this stage is of great importance. The right to health is one of the key and significant issues in both national and international arenas. Given the sensitive position of children (both physically and mentally), attention to this matter becomes even more critical for this demographic. Considering that the “Treatise on Rights” and “Sahifah Sajjadiyyah” symbolize a complete and comprehensive charter of rights for humanity, the aim of the present research is to examine the right to health for children in these two valuable works. Methodology: This research is qualitative and utilizes content analysis methods. Findings: The findings of the research indicate that the right to health in international documents encompasses various physical, mental, and even spiritual and social dimensions. This right is addressed in the “Sahifah Sajjadiyyah” and the “Treatise on Rights” of Imam Sajjad (AS) with a focus on “the right to health from a religious and ethical perspective and its criteria in all dimensions and aspects of human existence. ” This right is understood alongside various facets of rights, emphasizing that attention to health aspects goes beyond what is stated in international documents. Thus, the right to health from a religious perspective not only establishes and presents laws but also creates an environment and provides guidance in this area.

Abstract:

The present article is based on an empirical study on relative deprivation feeling as an attitude, that is, consisting of cognitive and emotional (feeling) as two component parts. The basic research approach of this study, therefore, falls within the realm of social psychology. Theoretical studies on relative deprivation show that shaping of social comparison process is the unique factor in differentiating relative deprivation from other forms of deprivation. The starting point of theoretical approach in this research is the explanation of this process in terms of both feeling and perceptive category of relative deprivation. Based on these explanations, we have developed measurements for their empirical study. The research population consists of residents of the city of Tehran who are 18-30 years old. A sample of 860 men and women was selected, using cluster sampling method. The results indicate that the feeling of relative deprivation among youth is relatively low. Men's deprivation feeling, however, is more than women's. The rate of perceived relative deprivation in the sample is also low, and the men's mean score is more than that of women. On the whole the conclusion is that single men of 18 to 25 years old who hold high school diploma or less, employed or unemployed, with less than four million Rials monthly income, and without private housing feel more deprived than other categories of youth. Moreover, this research shows that 9.9% of youth in the sample have the 'highest' rate of relative deprivation feeling. The estimated rate for the population falls between 6.6% and 13.2%.The results of this research have clear policy implications for the Iranian society of which a significant portion of population is young. The feeling of relative deprivation is important to be investigated further as it is rooted in the social and economic conditions of a society, and it directly influences the political system.

Abstract:

Background: Identifying the theoretical frameworks and intervention components in socio-economically deprived communities to improve their performance in various aspects of development, can be effective. Therefore, there is a need to review more recent literature that reports the effectiveness of interventions for people living in a socio-economically deprived society. This study aimed to investigate the effect of teaching games for understanding approach on fundamental motor skills and executive functions in economically deprived children. Methods: This quasi-experimental research was an applied one in terms of purpose with a pre-test and post-test design. For this purpose, thirty 7 to 9-year-old children from the economically deprived areas of Kahnouj City were randomly assigned into two groups including the non-linear approach (the teaching games for understanding) and the linear approach. The  research participants were trained for eight weeks. Before and after the eight weeks of training, the test of gross motor development-2 and the executive functions questionnaire scores were recorded. Results: The results of this research showed that the teaching games for understanding approach compared to the linear approach has a greater effect on the subscales of fundamental motor skills and executive functions of economically deprived children (P≤0.05).Conclusion: Engaging in cognitive activities in the teaching games for understanding approach improves fundamental motor skills and executive functions.

Abstract:

The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between the performance of children in motor coordination skills and their ability in cognitive and affective empathy. The participants contained 45 students aged 7-9 years from Tehran elementary schools. Movement Assessment Battery for Children-second edition (MABC-2) was used to asses motor coordination skills including manual dexterity, aiming, catching, and balance. Moreover, cognitive and affective empathy were evaluated employing Griffith Empathy Measure (GEM). Univariate and multiple linear regression revealed that manual dexterity and balance were positively and significantly correlated with affective and cognitive empathy explaining 7 and 11 percent of their variance, respectively. Moreover, manual dexterity was positively and significantly correlated with general score of empathy, while not controlling for the other variables. Monitoring motor coordination skills, fine motor skills in particular, seems necessary to prevent deficits in development of social skills such as empathy.
