Abstract: 

 Jorge E. Hirsch در سال 2005 میلادی، شاخصی را با عنوان h index ابداع کرده است که به وسیله آن، بازده علمی دانشمندان و محققان، با عدد نشان داده می شود. در این مقاله، تعریف h index همراه با مثالی از بانک اطلاعاتی Scopus، برای درک بهتر تعریف، ارایه شده است. در بخشی از این مقاله، سه بانک اطلاعاتی Google Scholar، Scopus و ISI Web of Science به عنوان منابعی که برای دستیابی به h index می توان در آنها جستجو کرد، معرفی شده اند. در بخش دیگری از این مقاله مراحل دستیابی به h index که به طور خودکار در بانک اطلاعاتی Scopus محاسبه می شود، با مثال، ارایه شده است. در پایان مقاله، چگونگی محاسبه h index، به طور دستی، و با یک مثال بیان گردیده است.

Abstract: 

Background and aim: One of the most common methods of evaluation of researchers' scientific outputs and their affiliated organizations is using different methods of scientometrics, which is done by a citation databases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the scientific outputs of Mazandaran University from 2006 to 2016.Material and methods: This descriptive study was conducted using scientometric approach. Research population was the indexed papers in Scopus citation (4091 documents). Data related to articles with the affiliation of (AF-ID="University of Mazandaran") were searched in the Scopus. Then, the time limit for scientific output was defined (LIMIT-TO (PUBYEAR)) and the final research was conducted. Finally, data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS.Findings: The results showed that the scientific outputs of Mazandaran University have increased during the study period. The least amount of scientific output was in 2006, and the highest in 2013. The largest number of indexed documents, the most received citations, and the prolific authors (60%) belong to the Faculty of Chemistry and Physics. In terms of the type of the indexed scientific documents, the largest number was related to research papers (93.4%), In terms of scientific collaboration and inter-organizational co-authorship, Mazandaran University had the most cooperation with neighboring universities.Conclusion: Totally, due to the ascending trend of recorded documents until 2013 and its descending one in the following years and for observing the research results of researchers in the world and reaching the University to the peak of their scientific publications, this University authorities should be provided the conditions in which the researchers can achieve to the necessary motivation and ability for publication in valid scientific journals.

Abstract: 

Background: Due to the overlap between the databases of the subject and content, resulting in the purchase of duplication and waste of resources, in this study, the degree of overlap between respiratory system papers indexed in the database, Scopus and Web of Science during the years 2001 to 2010 were examined.Methods: In this survey study, researcher followed by obtaining percent overlap in the articles related to respiratory system field from 2001 to 2010. At first sub-headings contained in the following subject headings from medical thesaurus of (Mesh 2012) extracted and then each keyword in title of articles in both database search and articles were retrieved. Then bibliographic information of these articles enter into EndNote version X3 (Thomson Reuters Inc., New York, NY, USA) and then in alphabetical order title arranged and as a result, common articles between the two databases and unique articles to each site was determined. Using SPSS software version 0.1.0.8 amount of the relative overlap and traditional overlap between the two databases was calculated and the results by using descriptive statistics to determine and were presented in tables.Results: In total 18099 articles were retrieved. That number of 9768 common articles, there were 7225 articles uniquely Scopus and 1106 articles from Web of Science. Amount of percent traditional overlap 53.97% and the overlap percent Web of Science with Scopus was 57.48% and Scopus with Web of Science was 89.83%.Conclusion: Because of overlaping the contents of two information databases such as Scopus and web of sciences searching for accessing to respiratory system from Scopus is better due to containing unique papers, However it is highly recommended to pay to this point while buying and sharing the mentioned resources.

Abstract: 

Introduction: One of the common methods for scientific activity assessment is scientometrics. It has been made possible with citation databases like Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus. In this paper, we studied the scientific production rate of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences during 11 years via scientometrics methods.Methods: In a descriptive, cross-sectional study, data was collected by searching WOS and Scopus databases for articles published during 1998-2008. The research population included 472 records in WOS and Scopus databases. Descriptive statistics was used in ISI and Scopuse.exe analyzers.Results: Most of the records related to Hamadan University of Medical Sciences were published in 2008 (61 records in WOS and 79 records in Scopus). The most active author was Mehrdad Hajilooyi (17 articles in both WOS and Scopus) while the most cooperative university was Tehran University of Medical Sciences (with 23 records in WOS and 51 records in Scopus). Saudi Medical Journal (with 9 records in WOS) and Iranian Biomedical Journal (with 13 records in Scopus) had the highest number of published scientific products of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences. Finally, neuroscience (26 records in WOS) and general medicine (196 records in Scopus) were the most attractive subjects of scientific products published by Hamadan University of Medical Sciences.Conclusion: Although the number of scientific products of authors at Hamadan University of Medical Sciences had a dramatic increase in recent years, it is still low in comparison with other universities of medical sciences. Therefore, research policy-makers should consider different aspects such as research budget increase, scientific writing workshops, collaboration with internal and overseas scientists and etc. to promote research.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Indexing of a country’s scientific journals in international citation indexes helps the promotion of that country’s academic rank in the world and increases their contributions to global knowledge production. The present study aimed to assess the conformity of Iranian medical journals written in English that are not indexed in Scopus database with its objective acceptance criteria.Methods: The current applied descriptive study assessed the latest issues of 52 Iranian medical journals written in English that were not indexed in Scopus database. Data were collected through observing the journals’ websites and using a checklist. The collected data were analyzed in Excel software.Results: The results showed that 32.7% of the journals did not have foreign editors and 59.6% did not have foreign authors. According to the results, 77.6% of abstracts were structured. In addition, the amount of self-citations was low and more than 70% of journals were being published regularly. The findings also showed that 49% of journals had EndNote output.Conclusion: The studied journals were favorable in terms of most of the criteria, but required cooperation with foreign editors and writers and more EndNote outputs.

Abstract: 

Introduction: The Primary Goal of Physicians are salvation of the human life. Physicians can research through medical databases in causes of death, are closer to this goal. This study was conducted with aim to determine the amount of overlap causes of death in developing countries in PubMed and Scopus databases.Methods: Survey methodology, with sciencometrics approach and study has been applied. The research population consisted the 20 First results retrieved in the10 primary causes of death in the developing world In January in 2012 at the PubMed and Scopus databases. In order, The Mortality Factors was taken from World Health Organization (WHO), then to selection descriptors was used from Medical Subject Heading (MESH), then were searched in PubMed and Scopus databases. After Search the amount of total retrieved articles was distinguished, and The 20 first results in each factor with directly observation in 2 databases for subscription between them were investigated. using Excel 2007 version of the descriptive statistics (frequency) examined the degree of overlap was calculated by the formula.Results: Results of research showed that total retrieved articles in 9 Mortality Factors in Scopus was more than PubMed. Overlap only in 2 factors «Cerebrovascular Disorders» and «Dysentery» was 70% and 65%. In «HIV», «Tuberculosis» and «Diabetes Mellitus» two databases had not any Overlap.Conclusion: Results showed that researchers with need more articles and the Recall was important for them, it is better than used Scopus database. In order to amount of Overlap at two databases in various Mortality Factors were different and with regard to Organization Policies and Limitation Researcher and physicians can be use each two databases.

نقش و اهمیتی که شناسایی صنایع آلاینده در جریان مدیریت زیست محیطی استان دارد و نیز برخی کمبودهای آماری در این زمینه، موجب شد با تاکید بر تامین اطلاعات مورد نیاز، طرحی تحت عنوان «ایجاد بانک اطلاعاتی محیط زیست استان قزوین» ارائه گردد. وجود بانک اطلاعاتی قوی و پر محتوا که همیشه و به سرعت بتوان از آن استفاده کرد، رمز موفقیت مدیریت خواهد بود. شرح عملیات در این طرح به صورت زیر است: 1- تهیه پرسشنامه زیست محیطی بر اساس اطلاعات مورد نیاز سازمان حفاظت محیط زیست 2- تائید و تصویب پرسشنامه از سوی سازمان حفاظت محیط زیست 3- تهیه نقشه با دقت مناسب برای شناسایی کلیه واحدهای صنعتی مستقر در استان قزوین 4- تهیه و بررسی آمار و اطلاعات موجود درباره واحدهای صنعتی 5- بررسی کلیه واحدهای مستقر در محدوده کار توسط گروه های اعزامی و مشخص کردن دقیق موقعیت جغرافیایی هر واحد و تکمیل پرسشنامه زیست محیطی 6- تکمیل اطلاعات مورد نیاز و آماده ورود به سیستم کامپیوتری 7- تهیه برنامه نرم افزاری مناسب با قابلیت های مورد نیاز سازمان در متن گزارش بانک اطلاعاتی مذکور، طراحی و پس از اطلاعات دهی به نرم افزار (GIS) متصل شد.
