The Effect of Ethical Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behavior With Respect To the Mediating Role of Exclusion in the Workplace

Abstract

 Background and objective: Organizations need committed, motivated and highly efficient human resources to achieve success and compete with other organizations. Therefore, recognizing human resources and factors affecting their efficiency to make the best use of this organizational capital is one of the concerns of managers of organizations. The present study aimed to determine the effect of Ethical Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behavior with respect to the mediating role of exclusion in the workplace. Methodology: The present study is descriptive and correlational with an applied purpose. The statistical population of the study is 350 official experts of Tehran Water and Sewerage Company. The sampling method was simple random and the sample size was selected based on Cochran's formula of 184 people. The main tool for data collection was a questionnaire. The Noel (2009) questionnaires were used for workplace rejection, Brown and Trivino (2006) for Ethical Leadership, and Podsakoff (1991) for Organizational Citizenship Behavior. Its validity was formally evaluated by experts and its reliability was evaluated by Cronbach's alpha. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings: Ethical Leadership has an effect on Organizational Citizenship Behavior with the mediating role of exclusion in the workplace in Tehran Water and Sewerage Company and have been able to explain 39% of changes in citizenship behavior. Also, moral leadership has an effect of (79. 79%) on exclusion in the workplace and (0. 34) on citizenship behavior. Also, rejection in the workplace affects moral leadership by 0. 80%. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that by applying Ethical Leadership in an organization, in addition to the occurrence of citizenship behavior in employees, it is possible to prevent rejection in the workplace.
