Abstract

The aim of this paper is to introduce and evaluate constructivism. Despite the recent interest in the concept, the idea is not new. Some aspects of it could be observed in the works by Plato and Aristotle. More recent philosophers, such as John Locke, Kant, and Pestalozzi have developed theories that were influential in the development of the theory. However, Piaget is regarded as the father of modern constructivism. With the introduction of "radical constructivism", by Ernest Glasersfield, the idea became widespread.
