Abstract

The city of KERMAN, with a Population of 500,000, produces 171 tones of solid waste per day. Land fill method is preferred due to extensive barren lands available around the city and also low cost. We developed a model for suitable site selection which was based on several parameters such as annual precipitation, ground water table, distance to the city, soil type and access to roads. GIS was used as a tool to increase speed and precision of data analysis. The process led to selection of a site 7 Km...of the city and has the surface area of 89 square kilometers.
