The present research was conducted with the aim of designing and explaining the succession model with the approach of talent management in the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. This research used a mixed method to obtain a practical model and consisted of two parts: qualitative (foundation data theory method) and quantitative (method of structural equations) is used. The results showed that the presented qualitative model consists of causal conditions (organizational structure, intra-organizational management, policy and upstream documents, background conditions (education and training, human resources capabilities, laws and guidelines), central category ( Evaluating selected candidates, progress of selected candidates, selecting and attracting and employing talent), intervening conditions (people, organizational limitations, supportive atmosphere of the organization), strategies (optimization of succession-training program, talent maintenance, promotion and development of talent, identification key positions), outcomes (strengthening the succession culture, evaluating the effectiveness of the succession system, developing talent management). After testing the mentioned model, the prioritization of each of its components was determined and presented. In the following, the test of the presented model was discussed and finally the research hypotheses and their test results were presented.
