Abstract:

The subfamily Cremastinae Forster, 1869 (Hymenoptera: ICHNEUMONIDAE) was studied in Fars and Hormozgan provinces (southern Iran). The specimens were collected using Malaise traps and sweeping nets. Nine species were identified of which two species including Temelucha afghana Sedivy, 1968 and Temelucha confluens (Gravenhorst, 1829) are new records for the fauna of Iran. With result of this study, the number of Cremastinae species known from Iran has increased to 24 species in six genera. An identification key to Iranian Cremastinae is provided, as well as a morphological diagnosis for the newly recorded species.

Abstract:

During the research initiated in 2002 on the bioecology of weedy spurge clear-wing moth Chamaesphecia schizoceriformis (Lep.: Sesiidae) in west parts of Urmia lake, specimens of an endoparasitoid wasp were collected from larvae of this moth. The specimens emerged from infested larvae in late June 2003, which had been collected from Nazlo district located at 12 Km at west of Urmia. Specimens were sent to Wuerzburg University (Germany) and identified as Phaen% bus saltans (Gravenhorst, 1829) (Hym.: ICHNEUMONIDAE). This species belong to the subfamily Acaentinae and occurs in the palearctic region. The body length of males varies from 10-11 mm and females from 12-13 mm. Alar expanse is 15.8-16.1 mm. Antennae 25-segmented, scapus and pedicel black, external edge and terminal segments of flagellum light brown. Wings color is dark brown, head and thorax are black. Midfemur and mid-tibia are orange in color. Trochanter and femur of hind legs are very large and orange color. The specimens of this species are maintained in the collection of Department of Entomology, Tarbiat Modarres University.

Abstract:

This paper provides faunistic data for 27 species of Cryptinae in Iran, of which 12 species and three genera, Buathra Cameron, Myrmeleonostenus Uchida and Glyphicnemis Foerster, are newly recorded from Iran. Previously recorded species with related references are also included. Distributional map is given for all species of Cryptinae. This study increases the number of known species of Iranian Cryptinae to 55.

Abstract:

The subfamily Cryptinae is the largest subfamily within the ICHNEUMONIDAE and might be encountered in the majority of terrestrial habitats. The nomenclature of this group is complex, e.g. it has been referred as the Phygadeuontinae and Gelinae (Townes, 1969). Almost all Cryptinae have been described as idiobiont ectoparasitoids. The most common hosts of Cryptinae are endopterygote pupae or prepupae enclosed in cocoons or plant tissue. However, there are some endoparasitic species in the Hedycryptina, Phygadeuontina, and Stilpnina. Conversely, a few are koinobionts. Furthermore, some species parasitize the egg sacs of Pseudoscorpionida and Araneae, and many can develop as secondary parasitoids. This subfamily includes 379 genera worldwide (Goulet & Huber, 1993). Although there is a large amount of information known about the host relationships of some Cryptinae, little is known on their biology. Furthermore, because the subfamily is rather large, it is structurally very diverse (Gauld & Hanson, 1995).

Abstract:

The fauna of the subfamily Diplazontinae (Hymenoptera: ICHNEUMONIDAE) in the north central parts of Iran was studied during 2010-2011. A total of 933 specimens were collected in 30 localities at different altitudes using Malaise traps. Sixteen species belonging to 7 genera were identified of which twelve species, are new records for Iran: Diplazon annulatus (Gravenhorst)*, Diplazon laetatorius (Fabricius), D. pectoratorius (Gravenhorst)*, D. tibiatorius (Thunberg)*, Enizemum ornatum (Gravenhorst), Homotropus nigritarsus (Gravenhorst)*, Homotropus pictus (Gravenhorst)*, Promethes sulcator (Gravenhorst), Sussaba flavipes (Lucas)*, Sussaba pulchella (Holmgren)*, Syrphoctonus tarsatorius (Panzer)*, Syrphophilus bizonarius (Gravenhorst)*, Tymmophorus obscuripes (Holmgren)*, Woldstedtius biguttatus (Gravenhorst), Woldstedtius citropectoralis (Schmiedeknecht)* and Xestopelta gracilima (Schmiedeknekht)*. Detailed morphological characters and a key to the genera and species are provided. Flight periods and distribution in relation to altitude on two slopes of the Alborz mountains are discussed.

Abstract:

The Ichneumonid fauna (Hym., ICHNEUMONIDAE) was investigated in different regions of Yazd and vicinity during 2006 -2008. A total of nine species were collected and identified. According to the available literatures, the two asterisked species are reported for the first time from Iran.1. Diplazon laetatorius (Fabricius, 1781)2. Ophion ventricosus Gravenhorst, 18293. Ophion luteus (Linnaeus, 1758)*4. Ophion obscurus Fabricius, 1804*5. Ichneumon caloscelis Wesmael, 18456. Netelia arimeniaca Tolkanitz, 19717. Meringopus calescens (Gravenhorst, 1829)8. Cryptus spinosus Gravenhorst, 1829Some information relating to the morphological characters, host range and geographical distribution of two new species records were presented and discussed.

Abstract:

We studied the pest and parasitoid fauna of cauliflower fields in southern Tehran in 2011. In the course of our research the Ichneumonid wasp Barichneumon derogator (Wesmael) of the subfamily Ichneumoninae was collected and identified. This parasitoid attacks the larval stages of lepidopteran pests. The species B. derogator is newly recorded from Iran.

Abstract:

Faunistic study of the family ICHNEUMONIDAE was carried out between 2009 and 2012 in the central parts of Caspian province of Mazandaran. We used Malaise trap, window trap, yellow and white pan traps, light trap and insect net for collecting the ichneumonid specimens The species Stilbops vetulus (Graven horst, 1829) and the subfamily Stilbopinae are newly reported from Iran.
