Abstract:

Objectives: This study was conducted to determine factors related to Childbirth satisfaction in women who experienced psychological traumatic Childbirth. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted to examine 375 postpartum women who had experienced psychological traumatic Childbirth according to criterion A of the fifth edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5 [A]). Data-gathering tools were the demographic and obstetric characteristics questionnaire and Mackey Childbirth satisfaction questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS (version 24. 0), and independent t test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, as well as multivariate linear regression test were used to perform data analysis. Results: The mean (standard deviation) of the delivery satisfaction score was 120. 09 (27. 11) out of 170. The predictors of satisfaction with delivery in women who had experienced psychological traumatic Childbirth included type of delivery (P < 0. 001), accordance of the delivery with the desired delivery (P = 0. 013), and analgesia (P = 0. 02). Conclusions: It seems that with continuous training and counseling about the type of delivery, the mother’, s participation in delivery decisions, and also providing a variety of analgesia methods during delivery can increase Childbirth satisfaction and reduce psychological traumatic Childbirth.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To create new developmental tasks, such as motherhood, pregnancy is a critical period for woman. Nowadays, due to the stress of birth, women's desire to cesarean delivery has increased. This research is designed to identify the effect of educational coping skills on labor outcome.METHODS: In this interventional study, 64 primiparous women were included in this study by cluster method and were randomly divided into two groups of case and control (32 subjects in each group). The experimental group attended eight coping skills sessions in 18-22 weeks of pregnancy and control group received routine antenatal care. Labor outcome were evaluated and compared in two groups.FINDINGS: Mean age in case and control groups was 20.25±1.40 and 20.43±1.86 years, respectively. There was a significant difference between two groups in requesting cesarean delivery [3 subjects (10%) in case group versus 12 (48%) in control group] (p=0.002). However caesarean rate, low birth weight and preterm neonate in case group were less than control group, but the difference was not significant.CONCLUSION: According to the results, Childbirth preparation using behavioral-cognitive skill is a suitable method in decreasing Childbirth outcomes including requesting cesarean delivery.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Childbirth is a natural phenomenon and physiological and risky process done in two ways: natural and caesarean. Since the majority of cesarean section reasons are the request of pregnant women and fear of labor pain of natural delivery, this study aimed to investigate the effect of relaxation on reducing the fear of Childbirth and increasing natural delivery.METHODS: This quasi-experimental study was done on 112 nulliparous pregnant women 37-20 weeks, with no particular problems in the two trained relaxation and untrained groups. One group received routine care and another group that participate optionally in relaxation classes received 8 sessions of 90-minute relaxation training. Data were collected and analyzed by using a standard questionnaire of Childbirth fear, demographic information and pregnancy outcome.FINDINGS: In the trained group the average of fear score decreased from 48.5±13.9 to 40.5±12.4 (p=0.000) and in the untrained group rose from 58.5±14.2 to 58.7±14.9. The mean difference of Childbirth fear in first and second stages between trained group was 7.9±1.8 and untrained group was 0.9±0.2 (p=0.000). In relaxation group 28 cases (49.1%) and in untrained group 18 cases (32.7%) had natural delivery (p=0.033). CONCLUSION: The results showed that the relaxation by reducing the fear of Childbirth increases natural Childbirth.
