Abstract: 

The primary objective of this paper is to address the adverse effects of active power fluctuations on grid-connected CONVERTERS. One of the challenges in integrating high levels of solar photovoltaic power into the utility grid is the lack of inertia from converter-based resources. This paper proposes a solution to this challenge by synthesizing additional inertia and damping properties using power electronics CONVERTERS. They emulate the inertia and damping properties of synchronous generators. The paper discusses different approaches to achieving effective damping control in grid-connected CONVERTERS. It proposes a genetic algorithm optimization tool to optimize virtual damping and inertia parameters. The goal is to suppress oscillations and ensure stable grid operation. The proposed method is evaluated in both time-domain and frequency-domain analyses. The simulation results demonstrate the validity of the optimization technique and implementation procedure. Using virtual inertia and damping properties ensures stable grid operation and improves the integration of solar photovoltaic power into the utility grid. The paper provides a detailed discussion of the approach, optimization tool, and simulation results, highlighting the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: 

This paper investigates the complete calculations of the different losses in matrix CONVERTERS such as switching and conduction losses. A small R-C snubber circuit is usually connected across two terminals of a bidirectional switch to limit the device voltage at an appropriate level. Also, the complete analysis of the snubber circuit losses is given. The results show that this simple snubber arrangement causes the total converter losses to increase. In other words, it has been found that the snubber circuit results in a high power loss compared to the total semiconductor losses. Another result of this research is that the snubber losses in the matrix converter are independent of the input and output frequencies and the power factors. The snubber losses mainly depend on the input voltage, the snubber capacitance and the switching frequency. Also, in this paper it is shown that the total energy losses is independent of the switching pattern and the load power factor and the majority of the turn-on energy losses comes from the snubber capacitor. Very good correlation between the analysis and the measured results were obtained.

Abstract: 

To achieve effective electrical power conversion from both the photovoltaic (PV) system and the wind system, parallel-connected boost CONVERTERS (PBC) are employed in this paper. A perturb and observe (P&O) formula-based concentrated power opinion tracing (CPOT) controller operates the PV and wind-operated permanent magnet synchronous generator, providing the input supply to the proposed converter. With the help of the PBC, the direct current (DC) voltage is increased and converted into a single-phase, 230Vrms, 50Hz alternating current (AC) voltage in a single-stage operation. For this DC power to AC power conversion, the system attempts to synchronize two different power sources. The sliding variable configuration control (SVCC) method is used to control the proposed PBC to obtain a constant AC output voltage from variable DC input voltage sources. The recommended control method has been applied to maintain the output voltage constant through changing load conditions. The implemented technique increases the performance of the power transition system while reducing total harmonic distortion (THD). The entire system is structured using the MATLAB/Simulink environment, which is utilized to validate the results.
