Abstract: 

A new CARBAZOLE- containing polymer has been synthesized for further photophysical studies. Efficient synthesis of the substituted methyl methacrylate has been accomplished via microwave assisted synthesis of 1 - chloro - 4 - carboxy - 5, 6, 7, 8- tetrahydroCARBAZOLE followed by further steps, such as reduction of the 4-substituted methyl carboxylate, dechlorination of the ring and at last, the reaction of the 4 - hydroxymethyl - 9 - ethyl CARBAZOLE with methacryloyl chloride.The resulting monomer was then polymerized free-radically to form the polymer, having a distribution Mw/Mn of 2.6.

Abstract: 

BACKGROUND: TODAY’S ONE OF THE MOST URGENT IN ENERGY FIELD IS FINDING GOOD RESOURCE REPLACEMENT FOR TRADITIONAL AND COMMON USED SOURCE OF ENERGY. Abstract: 

Nonlinear optical properties of synthesized CARBAZOLE based compound (9H-CARBAZOLE-3, 6-dicarboxaldehyde, 9-hexyl-) were investigated and measured using Z-scan method with a continuous wave blue diode laser, in different laser intensities. Open aperture Z-scan curves have peak configuration which indicates saturation in absorption has occurred. In close aperture Z-scan measurements, a peak-valley configuration of Z-san curves was related to the thermal-lensing effect that was observed below 100mW incident power. At higher incident powers, because of high nonlinear optical phase change, diffraction rings patterns were observed. Besides the photoluminescence emission of CARBAZOLE compounds under the emission of a blue laser beam, the high nonlinear optical properties of this compound indicate that it can be a potential candidate in optical devices.

Abstract: 

CARBAZOLEs are a type of heterocyclic compound which has been shown to have a variety of biological properties, including anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-epileptic, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and anticonvulsant effects. CARBAZOLE can be considered by many medicinal chemists as a pharmacophoric nucleus because of its fused-ring structure with a highly conjugated system. This nucleus attracts the researchers’ attention for synthesizing a variety of bio-medically active compounds. Herein, an attempt is made to review the chemistry of this chemical nucleus and the biological potential of the CARBAZOLE-based derivatives.

Abstract: 

In this work, we present firstly a study based on the calculation of the local spin densities of radical cations, which is known as a good measure of reactivity for coupling reactions, to obtain a theoretical basis for the one-step formation of poly (3.6-CARBAZOLE) and derivatives. Then we detail a DFT theoretical study of the geometric and electronic properties of oligomers based on CARBAZOLE and other conjugated monomers. These results will be compared with the experimental ones and with works realized by other authors

Abstract: 

Photoresponsive functionalized polymer nanoparticles were prepared as useful materials for preparation of smart papers. Such polymer nanoparticles have wide applications in several fields including papers, sensors, bioimaging and biomedicine. First, CARBAZOLE as a photosensitive compound was modified with 2-bromoethanol through substitution nucleation reaction to its hydroxyl derivative (N-(2-hydroxyethyl) CARBAZOLE, CzEtOH). The synthesis of 2-N-carbazolylethyl acrylate (CzEtA) monomer was carried out by modification reaction of CzEtOH with acryloyl chloride and the chemical structures of the products were characterized. Next, CzEtA, methyl methacrylate (MMA) and butyl acrylate were copolymerized to prepare photoresponsive functionalized polymer nanoparticles through miniemulsion polymerization in order to form a hydrophobic core. This was followed by copolymerization of MMA and glycidyl methacrylate by seeded emulsion polymerization to give a functionalized outer layer on the latex particles. Absorption characteristics, size, size distribution (narrow size distribution) and morphology of the nanoparticles were studied by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy, dynamic laser light scattering (DLS) analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs, respectively. Finally, due to the importance of photoresponsive smart papers and their wide applications, cellulosic fibers were reacted with the prepared functionalized latex particles for preparation of smart papers. Morphology of the fibers was investigated with respect to the surface-immobilized polymers on the cellulosic paper and their smart behavior was evaluated by UV irradiation at 254 nm. The results revealed fast color changes and the obtained cellulosic papers became violet upon irradiation. This work shows some promising feature of these materials for preparation of anti-counterfeiting papers, where the safety becomes a major concern.

Abstract: 

The research in the organic π-conjugated molecules and polymers based on thiophenehas become one of the most interesting topics in the field of chemistry physics and materials science. These compounds have become the most promising materials for the optoelectronic device technology. The use of low band gap materials is a viable method for better harvesting of the solar spectrum and increasing its efficiency. The control of the band gap of these materials is a research issue of ongoing interest. In this work, a quantum chemical investigation has been performed to explore the optical and electronic properties of a series of different compounds based onthiophene and CARBAZOLE. Different electron side groups were introduced to investigate their effects on the electronic structure. The theoretical knowledge of the HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the components is basic in studying organic solar cells so the HOMO, LUMO and Gap energy of the studied compounds have been calculated and reported. These properties suggest these materials as a good candidate for organic solar cells.
