Abstract:

Mahmoud Sami Al -BAROUDI is one of the pioneers of modem Arabic poetry. He is one of those poets who endowed a new life to classical poetry and gave it a new strength and life. He perfectly understood the duty of poetry towards the time and the society. As a result, he introduced the social topics such as justice, equality and consulation in poetry. This innovation paved the way for young poets such as Hafiz Ebrahim and Ahmad Shoughi and others. Al - BAROUDI"s life and poetry is and indication of his strong Faith and absolute surrender to God. In his thought real reform in different dimensions, especially in poetry, is only possible with regard to religion. Thus in his Divan we can see few Qasidas in which there is not different allusions to religion and religeous concepts. He was a teacher of the Holy Quran an he has expressed and reflected his Quranic learning in his poetry, especially on occassions that he is praising God and enumerate his attributions.

Abstract:

Resistance against western hegemony, neo-colonialism and exploitation is one of the issues contemporary Arab poets have dealt with. This especially since Arab nations encountered with this evil phenomenon affecting them politically, socially and culturally. Consequently, some poets were exiled or imprisoned for resisting colonization and underwent much hardship. Mahmud Sami al-Barudi is one such poet who was exiled to Sarandib for 17 years which are conspicuously reflected in his poetry, diction and style. Barudi’s poetry is idiosyncratically heroic and epical. Multiplicity and diversity of his poetry are so remarkable that one can consider his melancholically nostalgic patriotic poems dividing them into two independent exile and political genres. In the nostalgic poems of al-Barudi, he is committed to pure and sincere emotions, which like a common line, links his poems together. Lengthy, organic unity, thematic variety, sincerity, repetition and fluency are some of characteristics of Barudi's poetry. The current study tries to examine these poems through content analysis.

Abstract:

Music is one of the most prominent poetic elements in the literature of any nation. Meanwhile, the literature of some nations such as Persian and Arabic literature have the same musical elements in their poems. In this study, we try to analyze the poems of two prominent and contemporary Arabic and Iranian poets, Mahmoud Sami Al-BAROUDI and Malek Al-Shoarai Bahar to reveal the use of music-making factors in the poems of these two poets. To achieve this goal, the music of their poems is examined from two important aspects: external music (weight, rhyme and row) and internal music (Jenas, repetition with the sub-branch of phonology, repetition of the word and repetition of syllables, as well as Rad Al-Ajaz Ala Al-Sadr and Sadr). By this hypothesis, both poets have been able to compose sweet songs on their strings using musical instruments. The results of this study show that there are many similarities between these two poets.

Abstract:

Intertextuality is one of the new criticism approaches which studies the relationships between texts. This new approach entirely changed the attitudes toward texts. According to this theory there is no constant text. Texts are the result of some former works or the works that are contemporary whit them. Mahmud Sami Barudi who is the leader of modem Arabic poetry with his going toward Arab classic texts especially poetry of Jaheli, caused modem Arabic poetry revolution in the view point of intertextuality, his going toward poetries of the age of ignorance and ancient Arabic valuable texts, has a beautiful and unique form and confrrms this theory that Barudi with his going toward Arabic classic texts, could revive Arabic poetry. When the reader look at these two poetries would found that the claim of Baruodi poetries intertextuality whit the poetry of the jaheli is true. According to his intertextuality criterions are in the appendin of parallel negation.

Abstract:

The Neoclassic Egyptian poets were the first to have managed to save poetry from the scourge it was affected by during the Period of Degeneration, by means of the elements of movement, and to put it on the appropriate course of action. The present article attempts to review and evaluate the works of three prominent neoclassic poets (BAROUDI, Shawqi, and Hafez Ibrahim), whose poetry manifests the signs of renewal and modernization more than other poets. These poets refused to use stilted rhetorical literary devices; on the other hand they provided enough room for the devices of expression to be manifested; despite their attempts to maintain the solemnity of their words and style, following the literary figures of the golden age of the Arabian literature, they feared not either to resort to experiencing a new style or to turn to unprecedented, newly invoked motifs.

Abstract:

Composing poetry originates from the refined soul of the poet and his subconscious mind. This artistic creation, since ancient times, has been of appeal and praise for mankind. A poet who finds himself at the pinnacle of art and literature becomes proud enough to kneel down to praise the glory of his art. This poetic Narcissism is remarkable in BAROUDI's poetry, the pioneer of contemporary Arabic poetry. In this regard, the present study applies a descriptive-analytical method to analyze the phenomenon in his poems through identifying and explaining the artistic expressions of Narcissism there. The factors influencing BAROUDI's Narcissism should be sought in his trainings, ambitions, career in military positions, and pursuit of the classical school. These features are manifested in his words and utterances with which he boasts about his modernism, reviving the poetic tradition, power of expression, gift of poetry, and supeiority of his poetry to that of others.
