Abstract

 CURRENT-SOURCE INVERTER (CSI) TOPOLOGY CAN BE A FEASIBLE POTENTIAL TO INTERFACE LARGE-SCALE PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) SYSTEM TO THE UTILITY GRID DUE TO THE INHERENT BOOSTING ABILITY.HOWEVER, CSI AC-SIDE FILTER HAS VERY LOW IMPEDANCE AT FREQUENCIES CLOSE TO RESONANCE THAT SHOULD BE DAMPED. THIS PAPER PROPOSES A MULTI-LOOP CONTROL SCHEME FOR DAMPING CL FILTER DYNAMICS IN THE SYNCHRONOUS REFERENCE FRAME. A PROPORTIONAL CURRENT CONTROLLER SHAPES OUTPUT IMPEDANCE OF THE CSI AND IMPROVES THE DAMPING OF THE CURRENT INJECTED INTO THE GRID; FURTHERMORE, THE TOTAL HARMONIC DISTORTION (THD) OF THE OUTPUT CURRENT DECREASES. TIME-DOMAIN MODEL IMPLEMENTED UNDER MATLAB/SIMULINK ENVIRONMENT CONFIRMS THE ANALYTICAL RESULTS.
