Abstract

INTRODUCTION: METAL NANOCLUSTERS HAVE BEEN THE SUBJECT OF AN INCREASING NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS. [1] SILVER NANOCLUSTERS HAVE BEEN WIDELY INVESTIGATED FOR THEIR WELL-KNOWN OPTICAL PROPERTIES [2, 3] AND FOR THEIR CATALYTIC ACTIVITY FOR EXAMPLE IN ALKENE OXIDATION. [4] MOLECULAR SIMULATIONS COULD BE USEFUL TO INTERPRET SUCH EXPERIMENTS AND ALSO IDENTIFY THE LOCAL STRUCTURE. [5] IN THIS LETTER WE PERFORM AG CLUSTER IN A WELL-DEFINED TRUNCATED- OCTAHEDRAL (TO) CONFIGURATION AND INVESTIGATING ADSORPTION ENERGY OF CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) ON AG PURE NANOCLUSTER. THE SELECTED TO MOTIF POSSESSES HIGH SYMMETRY, WHICH SIMPLIFIES CONSIDERABLY THE ANALYSIS OF THE CARBON MONOXIDE ADSORPTION ON SILVER TRUNCATED OCTAHEDRON NANOCLUSTER.
