Abstract

 Background and objective: Today's organizations face a wide range of behavioral and ethical challenges among their members that attention and addressing them is a significant advantage for an organization. Poisonous leaders, as selfish individuals who do not care about the well-being of their subordinates, can influence other behavioral variables of employees and their desire to express opinions and beliefs or their moral courage. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of poisonous leadership on employees' organizational silence with respect to the mediating role of the moral courage variable. Method: This research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of content, descriptive survey and its statistical population includes 340 employees of public universities in Hamadan province. LISREL software was used to analyze the data. Findings: Poisonous leadership has a significant effect on organizational silence and moral courage. Moral courage also has a significant effect on organizational silence and also in the role of mediator variable on the relationship between poisonous leadership and organizational silence. Conclusion: Poisonous leadership among the employees of public universities in Hamadan province reduces the moral courage of employees. Also, increasing moral courage reduces organizational silence among them, and on the other hand, poisonous leadership leads to increasing organizational silence of employees by reducing moral courage (mediating variable).
