Abstract

Many of the world's political revolutions have left an effective role in the structural formations of the International System, and for this reason, there is always an intertwined relationship between political revolutions and the structure of the International System. Using the method of causal analysis of historical data obtained from library sources, this article seeks to answer the question of what effect the Iranian Islamic Revolution had on the structural formation of the Balance of Power in the region and subsequently in the International System. Based on the behavioral logic of actors in international politics, each of the great powers should put the role of regional hegemon on the agenda. The findings of the research show that the Iranian Islamic Revolution played a national role of regional liberation and this led to the appearance of signs of changing the behavior pattern of the great powers and caused the US regional policy to change from a regional hegemon to an offshore balance. In this sense, the Islamic Revolution of Iran has played the role of an independent variable in the changes in the Balance of Power in the region and the International System, and if the Islamic Revolution of Iran had not occurred, there would have been regional and international changes in the structure of the International System. It did not happen in the current form. The historical period of interest in this article is related to the conditions in which the effects of the Islamic revolution were reflected and related to the years after the Cold War, especially the 21st century.
