We report here the synthesis of carbon-supported zro2 nanoparticles from zirconium oxyphthalocyanine (ZrOPc) and acetylacetonate [Zr (acac)4]. Using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled with mass spectrometry (MS), we could investigate the thermal decomposition behavior of the chosen precursors.According to those results, we chose the heat treatment temperatures (THT) using partial oxidizing (PO) and reducing (RED) atmosphere. By X-ray diffraction we detected structure and size of the nanoparticles; the size was further confirmed by transmission electron microscopy.zro2 formation happens at lower temperature with Zr (acac)4 than with ZrOPc, due to the lower thermal stability and a higher oxygen amount in Zr (acac)4. Using ZrOPc atTHT C900 oC, PO conditions facilitate the crystallite growth and formation of distinct tetragonal zro2, while with Zr (acac)4 a distinct tetragonal zro2 phase is observed already atTHT C750 oC in both RED and PO conditions. Tuning of zro2 nanocrystallite size from 5 to 9 nm by varying the precursor loading is also demonstrated. The chemical state of zirconium was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, which confirms zro2 formation from different synthesis routes.

Tetragonal zirconia (t-zro2) nanoparticles were synthesized from the zirconium chloride using the co-precipitation technique and characterized by various measurement techniques. FESEM analysis further revealed spherical shaped NPs and HR-TEM analysis determined the size of the particles in the range of 14. 5 nm. The band gap energy was estimated 4. 0 eV. The UV (350 nm) emission was observed from PL spectrum. The photocatalytic degradation of the as-prepared zro2 nanoparticles were studied under UV light irradiation using ciprofloxacin (CIP) as a model organic pollutant. Results showed that 50% degradation were achieved within 15 min.

In this work preparation of sulfonic acid functionalized magnetite encapsulated zirconia (Fe3O4@zro2-SO3H) has been reported. Structural, chemical, and magnetic properties of the magnetically supported catalyst have also been investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, wide angle X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (WXRD), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), Hammett acidity function and pH analysis as well as Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement (SBET). The esterification reaction of various mono-and dicarboxylic acids with different alcohols was chosen to show the nano-catalytic activity. The reaction conditions were optimized and catalyst recovery was also demonstrated. The magnetic catalyst was magnetically separated and reused several times without significant loss of activity.

A novel MCM/zro2 nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrode (MZ-CPE) was fabricated and used to study the electro oxidation of epinephrine (EP) and acetaminophen (AC) and their mixtures by electrochemical methods. The modified electrode showed electrocatalytic activity toward EP and AC oxidation with a decrease of the overpotential by 173 mV to a less positive potential for EP at the surface of the MZ-CPE and an increase in peak current at pH 7.0. Differential pulse voltammetry peak currents of EP and AC increased linearly with their concentrations in the ranges of 1.0×10−6–2.5×10−3 and 1.0×10−6–2.0×10−3 M, respectively, and the detection limits for EP and AC were 5.0×10−7 and 4.5×10−7 M, respectively.

THE AIM OF THIS WORK WAS EVALUATION OF ZIRCONIA nanoparticles' EFFECT ON PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF DENTAL GLASS IONOMER CEMENTS (GICS). CERAMIC PART OF GIC WAS PREPARED USING MELTING METHOD AND ZIRCONIA nanoparticles WERE ADDED TO GIC IN 1, 3 AND 5 WEIGHT PERCENT. CHARACTERIZATION TESTS AND COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH EVALUATION OF NANOCOMPOSITE SAMPLES WERE CARRIED OUT. THE XRD RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE PREPARED CERAMIC PART OF GIC WAS COMPLETELY AMORPHOUS AND CAN BE USED AS THE MATRIX OF COMPOSITE. THE RESULT OF XRF SHOWED THAT THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF CERAMIC PART OF GIC WAS SIMILAR TO EXPECTED COMPOSITION. ALSO THE RESULTS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES DETERMINATION SHOWED THAT THE ADDITION OF ZIRCONIA nanoparticles TO GIC WILL IMPROVE THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH. THE MAXIMUM OF THIS STRENGTH WAS IN GIC-1%WT ZIRCONIA COMPOSITE. WITH INCREASING OF THE nanoparticles, THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH WAS DECREASED BUT IT WAS MORE THAN THE STRENGTH OF CONTROL SAMPLE. ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY, THE MOST PROPER COMPOSITE WAS GIC-1%WT ZIRCONIA nanoparticles. THE FINAL RESULT OF THIS STUDY WAS OBTAINING GIC-ZIRCONIA NANOCOMPOSITE WHICH HAS IMPROVED COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH

It was shown that the structure and particle size of zirconia nanoparticles has been controlled through the homogeneous precipitation process by using templates. Hexamine as the template led to zro2 nanoparticles with tetragonal structure, whereas coffee extract favored monoclinic structures. Field Emission Scanning electron microscopy (FeSEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements, Infrared and Raman analysis were used to view how the structure may possibly affect their spectrum characteristic. Using these pure m-and t-zro2 phases as catalyst, were studied photocatalytic degradation of ciprofloxacin (CIP). Higher degradation efficiency (50%) of the drug was observed at pH5. 5 after 15 min using t-zro2 phase.

NiO-zro2 nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, SEM and EDAX techniques. The XRD and SEM studies were used to analyze the size and morphology of the nanoparticles. The elemental composition of the prepared particles was detected by EDAX analysis. The particles were used in the generation of Zn/NiO-zro2 composite coating on mild steel by electroplating. The surface morphology and elemental composition of the coated samples were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and EDAX analysis respectively. The anticorrosion behavior of Zn/NiO-zro2 composite coating was electrochemically studied by Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in comparison with pure zinc coating.
