Abstract:

Potamogeton friesii Rupr. is reported for the first time from the flora Iranica area. This species was collected from Chaharmahal va Bakhtiari, Gilan, Isfahan and Khuzestan provinces. It is distinguished from its closest relatives, Potamogeton pusillus and P. berchtoldii, by having 5-7-veind, wide leaf and stipules which split at the top and being free from each other at upper part and also this species is reddish or brownish in fresh status. A geographical distribution map, anatomical features and an illustration of the species are given.

IN 1938, PRICE 63 ESTABLISHED THAT BACTERIA RECOVERED FROM THE HANDS COULD BE DIVIDED INTO TWO CATEGORIES, NAMELY RESIDENT OR TRANSIENT. THE RESIDENT flora (RESIDENT MICROBIOTA) CONSISTS OF MICROORGANISMS RESIDING UNDER THE SUPERFICIAL CELLS OF THE STRATUM CORNEUM AND CAN ALSO BE FOUND ON THE SURFACE OF THE SKIN. ...

Abstract:

Miankaleh international wetland and peninsula are one of the main UNESCO biosphere reserve in Iran and Middle East. Phytoplankton diversity of the Miankaleh wetland was investigated from October 2009 to September 2010. Apart from the work done by Ramezannejad Ghadi, this study is the second floristic study of algae in the Miankaleh wetland in north of Iran. Five main algal groups were recorded namely: Bacillariophyta, Cyanobacteria, Chlorophyta, Euglenophyta and Xantophyta. A total of 94 species and varieties belonging to 47 genera were identified. Among them green algae formed the most abundant group making up 43 species and varieties from 18 genera. This was followed by Diatoms, with 31 species from 15 genera, Cyanobacteria, with 18 species from 12 genera. Euglenophyta and Xantophyta with 1 species make up an insignificant part of taxa. All of these taxa are new records for Miankaleh wetland and Mazandaran province.

Abstract:

A new morphospecies, Anabaena variabilis var. kashinesis (Bharadwaja) Fritsch (Nostocaaceae, Cyanophyta) is reported for algal flora of Iran. The specimens were collected at 2013 from paddy fields of Golestan province. After isolation and uniculture in both liquid and solid media the variety was identified using optical, fluorescence and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques based on Morphological characteristics and behavioral analysis under different temperature and carbon dioxide concentration at limited irradiance (2μ E m-2 s-1) which is the first combined method of phytoplankton studies in Iran. Regarding biological versatility of cyanophyta, the study emphasized on most morphological characteristics of the variety and a new description of Anabaena variabilis var. kashinesis (Bharadwaja) Fritsch has been presented in this paper.

Abstract:

Complex processing of Cousinia section Acanthotoma mainly on the basis of studying herbarium specimens stored in Central Herbarium Institute of the Gene Pool of Plants and Animals of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (TASH) has led to increase the number of taxa. С ousinia eriotricha Juz. and С ousinia sarawshanica C. Winkl., which are reported as new records for the flora of Uzbekistan. New location was found for С . eriotricha from Hissar, Alay and Nurata ranges of the Uzbek part of these territories. Their maps, descriptions and distributions are given.

Abstract:

During the study of the plants collected from South-East Iran (Baluchestan), a specimen was identified as Coelachyrum brevifolium which is reported as a new record to the flora of Iran. The genus was previously known with one species (C. piercei) in Iran. Unlike C. piercei, the species is an annual plant. Morphological characteristics, habitat, images, distribution map and identification key to the species of the genus in Iran are presented.

Abstract:

flora of Jahanbin mountain area in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, located between Shahrekord and Hafshejan cities, with 12’ 187 hectares and 2’ 150 to 3’ 300 m elevation above sea level, is investigated. Vegetation of this area comprises of 273 species, 189 genera and 42 families. Asteraceae (37 species, 13. 5%), Poaceae (31 species, 11. 3%) and Fabaceae (25 species, 9. 1%) were the most important families regarding the number of species. The largest genera were Astragalus (9 species), Euphorbia (8 species), Silene, Hordeum, Ranunculus, Salvia (5 species each) and Galium, Centaurea, Scorzonera, Bunium (4 species each). Dominant life forms in this area were Hemicryptophytes and Therophytes. 149 species (55%) were native to Irano-Turanian region, 77 species (28%) pluri-regional, and 41 species (15%) shared elements between IT and neighboring regions (Euro-Siberian, Mediterranean, or Saharo-Sindian). This study reports also results of the first multivariate analysis of presence/absence data of floristic data in Iran, for a 14 flora x 1541 species matrix. Three main clusters of local floras emerged in resultant plots, separating the floras in western and eastern hillsides of Zagros, and based also on the climatic differences in northern and southern parts of the province in the eastern hillside. Our study demonstrated the applications of multivariate technics for comparative floristic analyses.

Abstract:

Within the framework of study on rust fungi (Uredinales) of Khuzestan, 23 rust species belonging to different genera were identified. Of these, 20 species viz., Aecidium rubellum, Melampsora cf. pulcherrima, Phakopsora zizyphi-vulgaris, Phragmidium bulbosum, Ph. rosae-lacerantis, Puccinia aeluropodis, Pu. calcitrapae, Pu. cancellata, Pu. conclusa, Pu. malvacearum, Pu. pulvinata, Pu. rhagadioli, Pu. scirpi, Tranzschelia discolor, Uromyces anthyllidis, U. glycyrrhizae, U. gypsophilae, U. lineolatus, U. loti and U. rumicis are reported as new members for Khuzestan rust flora. Moreover, several new host species are reported for some identified rusts in Iran. Examination of the type and authentic specimens of Puccinia rhagadioli and Pu. garhadioli revealed that both species are identical and, therefore, Pu. garhadioli is considered as a taxonomic synonym of Pu. rhagadioli.

Abstract:

Wetland plants are often the most conspicuous component of wetland ecosystems. They are grouped into hydrophytes, helophytes, and hygrophytes. In this research, the wetlands flora of Hamedan province, including natural and artificial wetlands, permanent and seasonal rivers and streams and wet mountain meadows, were studied. The results of this study showed that the flora of the wetlands of Hamedan province consisted of 45 families, 111 genera and 163 species. And, 13 families of these plants belonged to monocots, 31 families to dicots and 1 family to the pteridophyta. Families of Asteraceae with 15 genera and 20 species; Poaceae with 19 genera and 23 species, Cyperaceae with 8 genera and 19 species were the largest families of wetlands in Hamadan province. In terms of their life forms, the wetland plants of Hamedan province consisted of 8 species of hydrophytes, 51 species helophyte, 35 species of geophytes, 50 species of hemicryptophytes, 14 species of therophytes, 4 species of phanerophytes, and 1 species of chamaephytes. The chorology of species showed that 29 species of the wetland plants of Hamedan Province belonged to the European-Siberian elements, 38 species to the Iranotouranin elements, 1 species to the Mediterranean elements, 24 species to European-Siberian-Iranotouranin elements, 2 species to Euro-Siberian-Mediterranean elements, 3 species to the Mediterranean-Iranotouranin elements, 46 species to more than two elements, and 20 species to cosmopolitan.
