Abstract:

Abstract:

The aim of this article is to review the application of current imaging techniques used for the detection of viable myocardium. Each technique is discussed briefly, and the more commonly used techniques are compared. The imaging techniques reviewed herein are dobutamine stress echocardiography, single photon emission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, positron emission tomography with F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose, and recently introduced tissue Doppler imaging. The estimation of the amount of viable myocardium that could predict a better outcome after revascularization being a challenging issue, the present article also reviews a variety of cut-off points suggested by different investigators as adequate viable myocardium for revascularization and presents a summary of clinical, angiographical, and echocardiographic findings that could assist in selecting patients for VIABILITY study.

Abstract:

Introduction: Sperm VIABILITY Test is important in diagnosis and treatment of male infertility. The common test is E&N and HOST which they are based on membrane permeability and integrity. The aim of this study was to evaluate MTT Assay as a sperm VIABILITY test based on mitochondrial activity. Materials and Methods: Washed sperm samples were co-incubated with MTT in different media and different times in order to obtain the best condition for carrying out MTT assay. Then coefficient of variation of MTT was obtained and sensitivity and specificity of each test were calculated. Then MTT and E&N and HOST were carried out on 57 samples from infertile patient referring into Isfahan Fertility and Infertility Center. Then correlation coefficient of these tests with each other and sperm motility were obtained using SPSS software statistical program. Results: Ham's F-10 + 15 mM Hepes + 10% HSA at pH=7.4 at 37° c for 2 hours were the best condition for carrying out Sperm MTT VIABILITY Assay in order to obtain optimal results. MTT assay showed a good significant correlation with HOST and E&N and sperm motility. All the test had high sensitivity but the specificity of HOST was less than that of E&N and MTT.Conclusion: MTT assay appears to be a suitable sperm VIABILITY test with high sensitivity and specificity and low coefficient of variation. This test designed not only for differentiating but also selecting and sperating viable sperm from dead sperm. Therefore this test may have an application for intra-cytoplasmic immotile sperm injection which remains to be study.

Abstract:

Early determination of pregnancy VIABILITY is essential for women at risk for experiencing ectopic pregnancy or spontaneous abortion. Several markers of pregnancy VIABILITY have been identified including serial human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) monitoring and sonography, in addition to several less commonly available biochemical markers. An ideal test would be readily available, inexpensive and able to determine probability of live birth following one visit. This study reviewed 1729 IVF cycles of patients that had embryo transfer (ET) either 3 or 5 days following oocyte retrieval (OR) and an hCG determination 15 days after OR. Multivariate analyses and receiver operating characteristic curves were performed to analyze the data with the intention of determining hCG thresholds for the prediction of live births and failed pregnancies for embryos transferred on both days 3 and 5. Thresholds were also detected for prediction of multiple pregnancies.

Abstract:

Drying seeds, will increase storage time. Drying seeds of crops, the process is very critical because it damages embryos in the process of drying the seeds, their germination is lost. The results showed that damage to the embryo inside the seed, immediately after drying operation itself does not appear. In this research factors affecting drying corn seeds (the Single Cross 704) to maintain VIABILITY, in a fluidized bed dryer were studied. For experiment was dried with three drying air temperature (33, 37 and 43oC), three drying air velocity (0.5, 1 and 1.5m/s) and 20% humidity at two different times (immediately after the drying process and after 6 months). After drying the seeds (reaching 13% moisture) and after 6 months of storage, germination tests were performed. The results showed that all of the tests, the effect of drying temperature on germination rate is significant at 1%, but the impact of air velocity dryer, even not significant at the 5% level. The highest percentage of germination is at 33oC and 0.5m/s drying air velocity.

Abstract:

Introduction: Despite high distribution of H.pylori, the mode of transmission of the organism is not yet fully understood. The aim of this project is studying the role of water in the distribution of the H. Pylori injections.Method & Material: Bacteria strain was cultured on chocolate agar and Brucella Brain-heart infusion agar. It was then transmitted to 4 C water after counting and estimating of their numbers. Water specimens containing H. Pylori were counted in different interval time to find out the any possible variation of the bacterial numbers. In this study, it was considered to use the water specimens with the PCR as well as with the isolation in the culture. Results: Number of the organisms increased slightly upto one week and could grow in culture media after four weeks stored in water. Discussion: Our results may approve the role of the water in transmission of the organisms, but still needs more study.
