Abstract:

Introduction: One of the most important methods for evaluation of scientific outputs of researchers and research centers is using of Hirsch index. From the benefits of this index, is evaluating both quantity and quality of scientific outputs. This research was aimed to calculate, Hirsch index, for assistants, and Associate PROFESSOR of medicine school, IUMS. Methods: This is an applied and descriptive research. Research community consists of 101 of assist- ant and Associate PROFESSOR of medical school. According to the Hirsch formula, resource of main data for research, are; the number of articles, and citations to each articles; obtained through the search in under web citation index, web of science, Scopus and Google scholar. With combination of obtained data for every person, Hirsch index data for everyone are calculated. For determination of Hirsch index frequency distribution gathered with personal items and for data analysis, SPSS software had used. Results: The mean Hirsch index for all persons was 2.76; for assistants higher than for PROFESSOR assist- ant, in Basic Sciences higher than clinical sciences; and for men higher than women. None of women have the Hirsch index more than 6; nevertheless, %10.2 of men had more than 6. The highest Hirsch index belongs to a nephrologist; and the Hirsch index for 17 persons calculated equals with zero. Conclusions: Assistants and PROFESSOR assistants in terms of Hirsch index low levels. It seems that Hirsch index, is affected by factors such as, country, facilities, research budgets, number of researches, language, citation-publication pattern; accessible rate had affected on Hirsch index, too.

Abstract:

The aim of science is a controversial debate among realists and their opponents. Realists take the aim of science as giving a true explanation of the world. There are some answers to the question why we should take truth as the cognitive aim of scientific activity. This paper aims to reconstruct a Kantian answer for this debate. It will be showed that Kant's thought regarding truth create a capacity to accept truth as a regulative idea and a moral duty, though we have deprived of any criteria of truth. Moreover, we can modify kant's idea by setting aside justificationism in epistemology, in order not to take truth as an "arbitrary decision". Abstract:

Problem statement: Nasir al-Molk mosque, which is described in architectural writing resources as a distinct mosque, has become a tourism center in Shiraz for many years and seems to have lost its devotional function. This distinction from the mosques with a more historical dating in Shiraz results in the assumption that the architectural features of this mosque are the reason for this distinction. Characteristics that come with the change or emphasis of common patterns in traditional mosques, and field observations and reviewing the documents of related resources include the lack of elongation of the prayer hall perpendicular to the axis of the qibla, the aberration of the perception of the qibla, the maximum decorations in the space of worship and the likeness to non-Muslim patterns. In order to examine these characteristics that cprayer hallenge the historic originality, it is necessary to refer to non-timely religious criteria, which goes beyond this feature, to ensure the devotional function of the mosque in an optimal way. Research objective: Hence, the main purpose of this research is to judge and critique the distinctive features of the design of the Nasir al-Molk mosque in Shiraz based on religious criteria. Research method: In the present article, using the verses of the Qur’ an and narrations, especially those who refer to the construction of Masjid al-Nabi(The prophet’ s Mosque) by the prophet (pbuh), as criteria for criticism, the judgment of these four attributes in the mosque of Nasir al-Molk will be considered. Conclusion: The findings show that the division of the prayer hall into the eastern and western parts, which contradicts the policies of the prayer hall design from the point of view of Islam, as well as the aberration from the axis of the qibla alongside the maximum decorations that damage the experience of the worshipers, and finally use the signs and patterns of imported architecture in the Qajar era prove that the effect of these features is to enhance the mosque’ s exhibitive capabilities and, hence, reduce its worshipability.

Abstract:

Introduction: Academic advisors have been proven important in students’ success. Insufficient guidance and counseling can delay professional and educational achievements. Proper counseling can provide opportunities for educational success and also positive change students’ behavioral models. This study was accomplished with the purpose of assigning the function of advisors from the viewpoint of the students. Methods: This descriptive study was done on 385 students of Shahid Sadoughi University. Randomized stratified sampling was used. The data were collected by completing the self-reported questionnaire and then were analyzed by SPSS software. Advisors ’functions in each of the items were evaluated. The significance level of 0.05 was considered. Results: The majority of samples were from Nursing, Midwifery, and Public Health School and a few from Faculty of Medicine. The majority of students (41.8%) agreed to have the same advisor from the first term to the last. Also the results showed that the functions of advisors were poor in the areas of constant supervision and monitoring of students’ educational status (35.8%), preparing the timetable for performing the personal or group counseling (41.8%) and providing counseling sessions according to the timetable (42.3%).But their functions were fair in the areas of acceptable guidance of students in the educational problems (35.1%), and the advisor’s familiarity to educational regulations (43.9%). It is necessary to note that the advisor's ability in making the intimate relationship with students (37.1%), and the advisors’ motivation and tendency to guidance and counseling (30.1%) were the two items evaluated excellent by students. Conclusion: It is necessary that advisors make the students familiar with educational regulations at the first semester of higher education. Also, the policies and regulations for advisors will clarify their activities and will help them to perform better.

Abstract:

There is an enormous number of astounding scientists, who have made their mark in science. Very few of them also serve as a true mentor, ready to provide a helping hand to young researchers, especially those in developing countries, who must constantly struggle to remain optimistic. PROFESSOR David Y. Graham is one of these rare characters. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, his M. D. degree with honor from Baylor College of Medicine in 1966, and is board-certified in Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is currently a staff physician at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and a PROFESSOR in the Departments of Medicine and Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine, in Houston, Texas. His first research paper was published in 1967. Since then, his research interests have varied widely, but have generally been focused on the acidpeptic diseases and the role of infectious agents in gastrointestinal disorders. He has also been interested in the exocrine pancreatic insufficiency and his first paper on this subject (as a single-authored paper) was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1977[1]. His latest paper on this topic was published in 2016[2]. His interest in the possible infectious etiology of inflammatory bowel disease took him into the area of viral gastroenteritis,..
