Abstract:

Considering lbn 'Arabi as an active Muslim scholar, theosopher and, to some extent, philosopher, both and influential, who wrote voluminously at an exceedingly high level of discourse, making him one of the most difficult of all Muslim authors, the writer has made an attempt to find his relation with philosophy in three aspects, and judge whether he deserves the name faylasuf or not: l) Acquaintance with falsafah: Though it is clear that he was conversant with the fundamental sources of the Islamic Tradition and the intellectual currents of his day, especially the wisdom tradition, most of what he says is the product of his unveiling (Kashf) 2)View of falsafah: According to him, the unveiling achieved by sufi practitioners is a MODE of knowing superior to reason, but reason is necessary for acquiring a true knowledge, therefore, tashbih (God's incomparability) and rahmah (God's Mercy) take precedence over his tanzih (His similarity) and Ghadab (Wrath). 3) Contributions to philosophy: His contributions to philosophy can be summarized in three intimately intertwined theories as follows: The Oneness of Being (wahdat al-wujud), the world of Imagination (alam al-khayal), and the perfect human being. The first theory is based on the theory of tashbih; the second, in its broader sense, applies to the cosmos itself and to every thing within it, and lies between the two grand worlds, the visible (al-shahadah) and the Invisible (al-ghayb), to use the Quranic terms. And the third, the perfect human being, having actualized every possibility of knowledge and existence, fulfils the purpose of creation.

Abstract:

Background & Objective: Normal growth is the most important indicator of child health and measurement of height and weight is the simplest and the most reliable means to its evaluation. Due to the significance of the issue, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the anthropometric indices of secondary school girls of Zanjan in 2004-2005.Materials & Methods: This cross sectional study was carried out on 1010 students who had been selected through cluster random sampling from 10 schools. Height and weight were measured by standard method and body mass index (BMI) was calculated thereafter. The data were analysed using Excel and SPSS softwares and X2 and t-tests. Results: The survey of 1010 secondary schools girls showed that the height and weight of research group were 10.5 and 7.3% lower than the 5th percentile of National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) respectively and also, 0.6% and 4.5% were higher than 95th percentile of NCHS respectively. However, the 5th percentile of BMI almost matched the 5th percentile of NCHS. Moreover, 21.7% of the short students were underweight and 3.8% were overweight which were statistically significant (P=0.0001). 13.5% of short stature students were from district 1 and 7.8% of them were from district 2, showing a significant difference (P=0.0003).Conclusions: The research results and other reports throughout the country demonstrate that the height and weight of adolescent population in the country are below standard NCHS although the differences are not significant. However, NCHS curves overestimate the prevalence of underweight and short stature within our community.

Abstract:

There are hundreds of ventilator MODEs on different ventilators. Despite different names, many are similar in functions and options. Educational institutions only teach a limited collection of ventilator MODEs of a few numbers of MODEls; therefore, graduates may have substantial difficulties encountering new ventilator MODEls with unfamiliar MODE names on them. In this article, an Android application for finding similar MODEs on different ventilators is presented. The aim is to help an intensive care practitioner to easily find a familiar MODE on a new ventilator.

Abstract:

Destination and MODE choice play an important role in travel demand analysis and policy assessment as a consequence. To study these two choices، most researchers have used multinomial logit which suffers from the assumption of all error terms being independently and identically Gumbel distributed. This leads to the inability to consider the non-systematic heterogeneity in the alternatives. Heteroscedastic extreme value MODEl assuming independent and non-identical distribution can analyze the alternatives with non-systematic heterogeneous utility. The purpose of this paper is to analyze this heterogeneity and compare results with those of multinomial logit in destination، MODE and simultaneous destination-MODE choice for shopping trips in Qazvin city. Three choices for destination based on distance; and three choices for modal split including walking، private car and bus (totally 9 choices) are considered. The results for 1570 person-trip according to different criteria (such as log-likelihood function and likelihood ratio index) show the superiority of heteroscedastic extreme value MODEl in destination and MODE choice and superiority of multinomial logit in simultaneous destination-MODE choice. It is also observed that by increasing the number of alternatives، the non-identical and independent assumption of error term does not increase the explanatory power of the MODEl: travelers consider the non-observed factors as independent and with the same distribution. This paper is a step towards relaxing choice constraints، allowing researchers to consider heterogeneity of the alternatives.

Abstract:

Depression is one of the most frequent behavioral disorders characterized with disenjoyment, lack of motivation, sexual disorders, sleeping disorder and depressed mood. Depression is a prevalent complication in cancerous patients that mostly occurs as a result of social function impairment. In this cross-sectional study on cancerous patients hospitalized during a 6-month period in the radiooncology ward of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, the relationship of depression severity with variables of age, sex, marital statues, educational statues, life region and frequency of chemoradiotherapy sessions were studied and the predictive factors were determined. The prevalence or severity of depression showed significant relation with age increase (OR=10.8, P<0.05), low education (OR=6.4, P<0.05), being single (OR=2.8, P<0.05), and undergoing more than six therapeutic sessions (OR=3.2, P<0.05), while there was not such a relation for variables of sex and life region. Logistic regression MODEl showed that, age over 45 (OR=8.1, P<0.05), being illiterate (OR=6.5, P<0.05) and being single (OR=4.3, P<0.05), are good predictors for depression in patients with cancer, while the number of therapeutic sessions was not a significant risk factor. Treatment of depression as a part of therapeutic plan of cancerous patients especially in high risk cases, seems to be so important in decreasing the period of disease and patient’s disability.

Abstract:

The objective of this article has been to survey the thinking styles among students & its relationship with the academic achievement, their gender and age in terms of the social psychology. The required data was collected from a sample including 602 students (386 girls & 316 boys) of second & third grades of high-schools in the cities of Fars province through a multistage stratified–cluster random sampling method and by Sternberg Thinking Style Scale (1997).Minimum correlation between the items of the instruments and percent of scales alpha were 34% & 66%, respectively, representative of high validity of the instruments. The research data analysis was carried out by descriptive statistics through t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and at last through the multivariate regression (stepwise method). The research findings indicated that: 1. frequently, the subjects, with respect to attitude aspect, were conservative and from the viewpoint of the functional thinking were often subjected to rules and executives of instructions and in terms of level were global.2. The relations of students general thinking style with academic achievement and age was non-significant but to gender, was significant and the girls' thinking style scores was more than the boy's thinking scores (r=2.193, p= 0.022) and the boys in comparison to the girls, were more global, more conservative and more legislative.3. in general, the more the liberal attitude of students, the more their academic achievement. This conclusion was applicable for the boys (p≤0.000, r=.226), but it had no justification for the girls. Furthermore, the boys that in the functional dimension had more judicial thinking have been more successful in education (p≤0.042, r=.117), in contrast, it is incorrect for the girls.4. For girls, there was no significant relation between general thinking style & its dimensions and academic achievement. The strongest explanation of the girls' academic achievement has been their ages with a negative correlation.5. Among students (the girls & the boys), those who were older, had more academic wastage too (p≤0.000, r=-1.61). Also by increase in the age, particularly their executive thinking (obedience) (p≤0.015, r=.099) and conservative attitudes have increased (p≤0.001, r=.130). It's a noticeable point that in functional dimension, along with increase in the age, the boys have been more judicial (p≤0.024, r=.128), but the girls were more executive (more obedient) (p≤0.008, r=.164).6. The factors of age, liberal thinking and gender, respectively, have had a fundamental effect on predicting the student's academic achievement (R=0.221, R2=.049, n=558. AdR2=.044). Those students have had more academic achievement, in comparison with their classmates, who have been 1) younger and in their own educational age; and 2) those who have had more liberal attitudes; and 3) those who have been girls.7. The factors of liberal thinking style and age, respectively, have had fundamental effect on predicting the boy's academic achievement that, by having 27% of correlation in all, could have explained about 7% variance of the boy's academic achievement (R=0.265, R2=0.070, N=300, AdR2=0.064)

Abstract:

There are many evidences about the effects of soybean on the reduction of cholesterol in blood. In this research we have studied the effects of purified commercial soybean protein-powder (10%, 20%, 30%) on the alteration of blood parameters (total cholesterol, triglycerids, HDL, LDL and VLDL) in hypercholesterolemic male rats. After two weeks of caging and adaptation the rats in appropriate of condition, they were fed for 8 weeks with a basic food plus 2% cholesterol and 0.5% cholic acid to induce hypercholesterolemic state in rats. Then blood samples were taken to measure hypercholesterolemia and other serum parameters. The rats were put 8 more weeks under nutritional regimen including basic food plus commercial protein (10%, 20% and 30%). At the end of test-period blood sample were taken again to measure the same parameters. Statistical analysis methods showed that in the first phase of experiment feeding by the basic food plus 2% cholesterol and 0.5% cholic acid caused significant rise of total cholesterol and LDL, indicating hypercholesterolemic. The feeding of rats by soya protein caused reduction of total cholesterol, triglycerid, HDL, LDL and VLDL. This reduction in discussed due to the presence of some amino acids and also to isoflavones.

Abstract:

Interactions of charge particles with electromagnetic waves have important effects (linear and nonlinear) on the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and it can somewhat play a role in generation of the new MODE waves. Besides, the particle energies can play an important role in causing instability in plasma. The values of parallel energy of the particles have been calculated so that they can satisfy the nonlinear coupling condition. Furthermore, a result for instability is presented and the initial parameters inferred from the observational data are used. The results show that the nonlinear coupling (particle-wave interaction) can be a candidate for the generation of RX MODE wave in equatorial plasmasphere. Besides, the results show that energetic particles that participate in particle - wave interaction have an energy range from 0.058 to 10.23keV. This range of particle energy particle is in agreement with the observation.

Abstract:

The study on the quality of groundwater is important for drinking, industry and agriculture purposes. In this research, the hydrochemical data collected from exploitation wells in Gonabad basin- Khorasan Razavi, have been studied in period of 5 years (from 85 to 90). Graphical methods and classification of underground water quality show that the type of water is mainly that of sodium sulfate. Spatial distribution of water quality using multivariate statistical R-MODE MODEl states that water quality in this basin is affected by two factors. The first factor which is known as salinity and water hardness in plain is the linear combination of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, SO42-, Cl-, TH and EC. The second factor is the combination of HCO3-, CO32- and pH which indicates water alkalinity for which higher pH is an evidence. Further in the research, the MODEling of quality parameters TDS, EC and TH is done with chemical parameters such as primary ions and pH using artificial neural network. The comparison of results obtained from filed with those of neural network is very analogous showing the high ability of this method for water quality prediction. Therefore, in case of lack of data in the area, this MODEl can be used to predict water quality in target locations. The results can be used to environmental management and better exploitation of groundwater resources.
