Abstract:

Introduction. CD86 is a costimulatory molecule that participates in the regulation of T-cell lymphocytes activation. Thus, we examined a genetic marker on theCD86 gene in kidney transplant outcome.Materials and Methods. In our retrospective study, 168 kidney allograft recipients were genotyped by direct sequencing. Patients were classified into 2 groups of 29 human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-identical haplotype allograft recipients and 139 recipients showing one or more mismatches in the HLA haplotype. Forty-five patients (26.8%) developed at least 1 acute REJECTION (AR) episode, 7 in the first and 38 in the second group.Results. Acute REJECTION was associated with the presence anti-HLA antibodies before transplantation (P=.03). The AA genotype and A allele at position+1057 in theCD86 gene were more frequent in patients without AR (9.75% and 28.5%, respectively) compared with those showing an AR (2.22% and 23.3%, respectively). This difference was statistically significant in the anti-HLA-positive recipients, as AA frequency was 31.3% in non-AR patients and zero in AR ones (P=.04) and A allele frequency was 46.9% and 20.8%, respectively (P=.04). Patients bearing AA genotype reached a higher graft survival time (9.84 years) than those carrying GA (8.21 years, P=.32) or GG (7.61 years, P=.72) genotypes.Conclusion. These results suggest that AA genotype and A allele ofCD86+1057G>A polymorphism may confer a protection against acute kidney allograft REJECTION in Tunisian patients.

Abstract:

The most widespread method applied for standardization of milk protein in cheese production is ultrafiltration. In the current study, pasteurized, unhomogenized whole milk was ultrafiltered with APV ultrafiltration system, 51 spiral wound, polysulfone membrane with 20000 Da molecular weight cut off (DDS, Nakskov, Denmark) at 50oC, such that the pressure difference between the two sides of membranes was not more than 3.6 bar. Permeate that was collected, contained (w/w%) 0.01 % proteins. The protein was isolated from crystalline TCA to the concentration of 12.5% (w/v), and then characterized by discontinuous SDS-PAGE (10-20% acryleamide). The products of proteolysis contained a-lactalbumin (49.95±2.25 %), b- lactoglubolin (22.30±2.3%) and casein proteolysis products (30±4%) and (96.68±1.725), (99.18±0.46) and (98.39±1.005) % were rejected by ultrafiltration membrane, respectively. Casein micelles were rejected completely (100%), therefore, they couldn’t penetrate to permeate from retentate. Incomplete REJECTION of casein and penetration of casein into permeate indicates the leakage of retentate in to permeate.

Abstract:

Background: Nowadays, violence and aggression can be widely observed in many societies, the effect of which can be seen on both individuals and the society as a whole. The present study aimed to determine the relationship between mother acceptance-REJECTION and aggression among the B.Sc. students of Shahid Chamran University, Ahvaz, Iran. Methods: This descriptive, canonical correlational study was conducted on 100 female university students selected through simple sampling. The data were collected using adult acceptance-REJECTION questionnaire (mother form) and Buss and Warren Aggression Questionnaire. Then, they were entered into the SPSS statistical software and analyzed using descriptive as well as inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient and canonical correlation). Results: Structural coefficients showed that the pattern of high scores in mother’s acceptance and low scores in mother’s REJECTION was correlated with the pattern of low scores in indirect aggression, anger, hostility, and physical aggression. Therefore, the study findings indicated that the combination of low mother’s acceptance and high mother’s REJECTION could increase the probability of indirect aggression, anger, hostility, and physical aggression. Conclusion: A significant correlation was observed between mother acceptance-REJECTION and aggression.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Kidney transplant is a major form of renal replacement therapy in many patients at advanced stages of the disease. Transplant REJECTION is a major complication following kidney transplant that could be reversible or irreversible. The present study was done to investigate the incidence of irreversible kidney transplant REJECTION. Materials and methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed using the information on 1571 renal transplants in Kermanshah, Iran, 1989 to 2016. Kaplan-Meier, Cox regression, and log-rank test were used to estimate the incidence of kidney transplant REJECTION 24 hr after surgery, the graft survival rate, and investigating the differences between the subgroups, respectively. Results: The rate of acute transplant REJECTION was 3. 82% and the REJECTION rates within 6 months, one and three years after the transplantation were 10. 06%, 12. 41%, and 18. 20%, respectively. The Cox regression model showed significant correlations between age (P=0. 013), creatinine level (P=0. 001), and diabetes (P=0. 016) and survival rate of kidney transplants. Conclusion: High incidence of acute REJECTION and REJECTION within six months showed the influence of some underlying factors. Further studies on underlying variables that affect transplant REJECTION and kidney transplantation at younger ages could be of great benefit in increasing kidney transplantation survival.

Abstract:

Purpose: To determine whether adding 2% topical cyclosporine (CSA) to local and systemic steroids in treatment of endothelial corneal allograft REJECTION improves the outcome. Methods: A prospective randomized treatment trial was carried out on 40 consecutive corneal graft recipients, presenting with the first episode of endothelial graft REJECTION in two groups. Group one (20 patients) received topical steroid eye drops and oral prednisolone (1 mg/kg). Group two (20 patients) received the same topical and systemic therapy plus 2% cyc1osporine eye drops. The patients were followed up for three months and their clinical outcomes were evaluated by the rates and time for reversal of REJECTION. Results: In group one, 14 (70%) cases had total reversal of graft REJECTION episode which started within a mean period of three days. but in the CSA group, it occurred in 18 (90%) cases which started within a mean period of 1.5 days (P=0.21).Among patients who sought treatment early (< 6 days). survival rates were 85% and 100%, respectively (P=0.2). In high risk patients, the REJECTION reversal rate was 66% in CSA group and 25% in the control group (P=0.5). Conclusion: Addition of 2% CSA eye drop to topical and systemic steroids may improve the rates of graft REJECTION reversal. It may also decrease the interval between initiation of treatment and improvement of clinical signs.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of the REJECTION Sensitivity Questionnaire (RSQ) in university students. The research sample consisted of 325 undergraduate students from the University of Isfahan (170 female, 150 male). Who were selected randomly through cluster sampling. The instruments used in this research were REJECTION Sensitivity Questionnaire (RSQ), Penn State Worry Questionnaire, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire. In order to assess the questionnaire's reliability, Cronbach's alpha was used. Correlation coefficient, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were used to assess construct validity of RSQ. Cronbach’s Alpha of the questionnaire was 0.84. In exploratory factor analysis, 2 factors (1- response expectation, 2- worry of unacceptance of request) were extracted which explained 28.28% of total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed these two factors. Penn State Worry Questionnaire and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire were used to assess the convergent and divergent validity of the RSQ respectively. Both of them correlated significantly with RSQ. There was no difference between RSQ scores in males and females. The results of this study showed that the RSQ had satisfactory reliability and validity coefficients and can be a suitable tool for measuring REJECTION sensitivity in Iranian students in future research.

Abstract:

One of the most important constraints on manufacturing productivity is the machining vibrations. This vibrations may cause increase in machining costs, lower accuracy of products and decrease tool life. The effective solution for increasing cutting process stability and vibration suppression is to improve structural dynamic stiffness. There has been presented different techniques for enhancing dynamic stiffness of structures using passive and active vibration control methods. Although passive vibration control methods are always stable, they exhibit limited performance. In active control methods, vibrations can be effectively damped over a various conditions. The aim of this research is to enhance the dynamic stiffness of an industrial boring bar by using active damping. Cutting process mainly exposed to parameter perturbations and unknown external disturbances, therefore, designing an active vibration control system for cutting process is a challenging problem. In this research an extended state observer based control strategy was proposed that can overcome these uncertainties. The proposed strategy was implemented into an active vibration control system for a boring bar. Moreover, the direct velocity feedback is successfully implemented in the vibration control loop. The results of impact tests indicate that the control algorithms have a great performance in suppressing vibrations and increasing the structural dynamic stiffness. Voltage impact results show that ADRC controller spends less control effort than direct velocity feedback controller.

Abstract:

Ibn Sina has had two completely different positions on bodily resurrection. At times, after rational demonstration of spiritual resurrection, he declared that he merely accepts bodily resurrection by trusting the saying of Prophet and sometimes by criticizing those who believe in the resurrection of body and soul, he only accepts the resurrection of souls. The problem here is that he can believe in the corporeality of resurrection in this way only if he regards it possible and already has shown its possibility. But he has not proposed the possibility of bodily resurrection. After Ibn Sina, some theologians and philosophers have shown the possibility of bodily resurrection before asserting revealed arguments for it. Another difficulty of Ibn Sina is that he rejects bodily resurrection whereas it is confirmed by Quranic verses and valid traditions. He believes that the prophet, by taking into account the situation of general audience who do not have the ability of understanding rational concepts and true happiness and wickedness, should encourage them by stating tangible pleasures and punishments and frighten them of disobedience and wrong doing. By proposing the theory of analogy as a particular method for teaching people the religious truth, Ibn Sina has regarded the literal meanings of Quranic verses as signs of higher Quranic concepts to people. So, beyond the literal meanings of these verses, there is some esoteric and rational ones that should be attained by way of esoteric interpretation. Many theologians have not accepted this solution by asserting that the verses are not liable to allegorical interpretation.
