Abstract:

The present study is focused on the species belonging to the genus Maiestas Distant, 1917 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae, Deltocephalini) in Iran, based on some specimens collected during 2016 to 2019 from Southeast Iran and species that have been previously reported: M. horvathi (Then, 1896), M. pruthii (Metcalf, 1967), M. schmidtgeni (Wagner, 1939), and M. trifasciata (Lindberg, 1954). M. pruthii, previously known from the Oriental region (India and Pakistan), is recorded for the first time in the Palaearctic region from Southeast Iran and M. horvathi is a new record for the Fauna of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. An identification key and distribution maps for the Iranian Maiestas species are provided.

Abstract:

Biological response and ecological indices of benthic communities, such as greater mortality of foraminifera and shell abnormalities, have been used to document pollution effects on ecosystems. Shadegan Wetland was damaged from a deposition of huge amounts of soot and products of burning oilwells of Kuwait as well as chronic exhaust fumes of refinery and industrial furnaces. In this investigation, community structure and changes in indices of the macro- and meio-Fauna of the Shadegan wetland were studied in 2004. Recorded salinity ranged from 4.1 to 63.1 ppt. Salinity varied significantly among sampling stations. pH of the water fluctuated between 6.8 to 8.7. Dissolved oxygen (DO) content of water at the sampling stations ranged from 5.3 to 7.8 mg/l. The maximum and minimum (19.6 and 7 NTU) water turbidities were recorded at the sampling stations 7 and 10, respectively. The maximum and minimum TOM (23.17% and 8.45%) were recorded at stations 3 and 9, respectively. The results of sediment texture analysis showed that soil type in the study area was mostly silty–clay. The highest and the lowest rate of sediment with silty–clay texture were 89.76% and 49.28%, respectively. 18 species of macro benthos were identified. Gastropods comprised more than 50% of the individuals of macro benthos populations. Aquatic insects (22%), Crustaceans (11%), Polychaetes and Acaris (each with 5.5%) were the other dominant groups in abundance, respectively. The results showed the highest (984/m2) and the lowest (26/m2) abundance of macro benthos were recorded at the stations 10 (Rogbeh) and 8 (Doragh creek), respectively. The results showed that meiobenthos displayed a higher biodiversity than macro benthos. Ostracodes, Nematods and Foraminifera were the most dominant groups. Many Foraminifera showed morphological shell abnormality. Biodiversity indices (H' and l) for macro benthos and meiobenthos were expectedly different. Meiobenthos, primarily, Ostracodes, Nematods and Foraminifera displayed higher biodiversity than macro benthos. ANOVA results showed significant variation (P<0.05) between sampling stations.

Abstract:

This study investigated food chains and fishes feeding habits in Laar Reservoir ecosystem. It investigated monthly hydro-biological parameters such as density and distribution of zooplankton, animal macro-benthic and fish in 12 different sampling stages from June until November in 2008 and 2009. Zooplankton sampling has been done vertically using with Juddy Net, macrobentic using with Grab (400 cm2), Surber (1600 cm2 and hand net (2500 cm2) and fishes were caught using with Cast net, Electro-Shocker in near to Dam and Emam-Pahnak (Delichai), Ab-Sefid, Elarm and Kamardasht tributaries stations. This study showed there were 21 genera and species belong to 3 Zooplankton orders in Laar reservoir which Cladocera order was dominant and it constituted about 55.81% of zooplankton population in all studied period. The highest cell density of zooplankton associated with the Orders of Cladocera (48050±0.05 number/m2) and Rotatoria (24020±0.02 number/m2) in June. There were 98 genera and species in 12 orders of macrobenthic and Diptera order with abundance of 676 number/m2 and biomass of 1.79 gr/m2 in 2008 and 767 number/m2 and biomass of 2.50 gr/m2 in 2009 was dominant. There were 5 fish species which Salmo trutta fario constituted more than 95 percent of caught fish population and the averages of its weight and fork length were measured 136.86±103.4 g and 212.81±49.6 mm, respectively. The two-way ANOVA showed that sampling months and studied stations affect Fauna abundance (P<0.05). Biological studies indicated that this reservoir has low potential to planktonic productivity and due to geographical location of this dam, remarkable temperature differences can be observed in different years especially in fall and winter, which is biologically important. In the study, we record many species of zooplankton and animal macrobentic for the first time from Iran.

Abstract:

Introduction: Considering wide distribution of scorpions in various parts of the country and their importance in biological and medical Sciences, the current study was performed during 2005 to 2006 in order to determine scorpions species in Kerman/Iran.Method: In this descriptive research, 13 cities in Kerman province were investigated. All collected scorpion specimens in %75 ethyl alcohol were sent to the entomology laboratory of Kerman university of Medical Sciences for identification of their species by the use of stereo microscope and morphologic identification key. Results: A total of 8 species belonged to three families of Buthidae, Hemiscorpiidae or Liochelidae and Scorpionidae were identified. The identified species were as follows:A: Family Buthidae: Mesobuthus eupeus(44%), Androctonus crassicauda (28.5%),  Odontobuthus doriae(22.6%), Orthochirus scrobiculosus(3%), Androctonus.amorcuxi(0.35%), Buthotus saulcyi (0.35%), B:Family Liochelidae: Hemiscorpious lept urus(0.9%), C:Family Scorpionidae: Nebo sp (0.3%).Conclusion: Kerman province with 8 scorpion species has a high bidogical founa. This is the second report of the Nebo Genus from Iran after the report in 1980 from Hengam island located in south of Iran in Persian Golf. Planning prevention, control and treatment programs based on the identified species is suggested.

Abstract:

Rodent have global spread and include the largest order of mammals that their broad range of adaptation is extensive. So far don’t perform a study on rodent Fauna of Ferdows County. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify this part of the vertebrates in this area. In this regard in order to identification and biosystematics survey of rodent Fauna from winter 2014 to June 2014 in different parts of the area sampling was done by using different traps. Cached samples were identified by cranial, dental and morphometric characteristics. Based on results five species recognized in Ferdows which including Mus musculus, Tatera indica, Meriones persicus, Nesokia indica and Cricetulus migratorius.
