Abstract:

a. The word "cˆasm" in Mowlana"s couple- poems has different implications; it is either the physical EYE or the esoteric insight; in the first case, it sees only the indications one the signs of material world and is unaware of un visible world, but in the second case it is the intuition which helps to realize the reality. b. Divine prophets are the typical owners of esoteric insight. c. Moulana"s interpretation of evil EYE is different from common people"s interpretation. d. In Mowlana"s view, inanimate objects have a kind of perception too. e. The meanings of "nazar" in Mowlana"s couplet- poems are not the same as "cˆasm" meanings; in fact, Mowlana has a special interpretation of "nazar".

Abstract:

The novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, which initially began in China, has spread to many countries around the globe, with the number of confirmed cases increasing every day. With a death toll exceeding that of the SARS-CoV outbreak back in 2002 and 2003 in China, 2019-nCoV has led to a public health emergency of international concern, putting all health organizations on high alert. Herein, we present on an overview of the currently available information on the pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of this virus.

Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic has substantially affected all aspects of healthcare, and these effects are still unfolding. COVID-19 has caused ocular problems both directly and indirectly; further causes of concern are side effects of COVID19 treatment and indirect consequences of lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders. Despite the ongoing evolution of the coronavirus due to constant mutations, the pandemic will eventually come to a relative end or at least slowdown, and we must prepare for what lies ahead. In this editorial, we will discuss the probable impacts of the pandemic on ophthalmic disorders and surgical indications over the coming years. . .

Abstract:

Purpose: To evaluate the association between subjective dry EYE symptoms and the results of the clinical examinations. Methods: The study was a clinical-based survey involving 215 first-year students selected consecutively during a regular ocular health examination at the University of Cape Coast Optometry Clinic. The data collection process spanned for a period of four months. Out of the 215 students, 212 returned their completed questionnaires and were subsequently included in the study. Dry EYE tests including meibomian gland assessment, tear break up time, fluorescein staining, Schirmer test, and blink rate assessment, were performed on each subject after completion of the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire. ShapiroeWilk test was used to determine the normality of the clinical tests, and Spearman's correlations co-efficient was used to determine the correlations between the clinical test results and dry EYE symptoms. Results: Statistically significant associations were found between OSDI scores and blink rate (rs ¼ 0. 140; P < 0. 042), and associations between OSDI scores and contrast sensitivity scores (rs ¼ 0. 263; P < 0001). However, the results of corneal staining (rs ¼ 0. 006; P < 0. 926), Schirmer test (rs ¼ 0. 033; P ¼ 0. 628), tear break up time (rs ¼ 0. 121; P < 0. 078), meibomian gland expressibility (rs ¼ 0. 093; P < 0. 180), and meibomian gland quality (rs ¼ 0. 080; P < 0. 244) showed no significant association with OSDI. The correlation coefficients range from 0. 006 to 0. 263 showed low to moderate correlation between dry EYE symptoms and the results of clinical test. Conclusion: Associations between dry EYE symptoms and clinical examinations are low and inconsistent, which may have implications for the diagnoses and treatment of dry EYE disease.

Abstract:

Considering that most of the information used in cognitive processing is obtained from visual attention, studies in visual attention in cognitive sciences are essential. The EYEtracking analysis is a research tool used to measure visual attention. Studies of consumer behavior showed a relationship between visual attention and consumer purchasing decisions. EYE-tracking technology is used to research consumer decision-making, marketing, and advertising and diagnose cognitive disorders.

Abstract:

Patients with severe EYE injuries are frequently admitted to EYE hospitals. Complications are common in these patients. Epidemiologic study to define its incidence and risk factors is an important step for prevention of such injuries.A prospective study was conducted on 346 patients (275 males, 71 females) who were admitted to Nikookari and Alavi hospitals in Tabriz due to ocular trauma between 1992-94.Male to female ratio was 4:1 and nearly 50% of patients were younger than 12 years of age. The mean age was 19.7±17.3 years. The majority of injuries (44%) took place at home. Surgical intervention was done in 85% of patients with sharp injuries and 30% with blunt trauma. 9% of patients had no light perception. Laceration of the globe was the most common EYE injury (40%).Prognosis of ocular trauma especially those of sharp injuries is poor. Individuals need to be educated on the use of safety EYE wear.
