Abstract:

Background: Stress is a migraine trigger. Anxiety sensitivity as a mediator between stress and disease is one of the factors affecting the symptoms of migraine. Purpose of the present study was to assess the effectiveness of EYE Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) on anxiety sensitivity in patients with migraine. Methods: In this semi experimental study, 36 patients with migraine were randomly divided into two groups: experimental and control. Patients of experimental group received EMDR therapy, 3 sessions of 90 minutes within three weeks. Control group did not receive any medical or psychological intervention. Participants in both groups were evaluated with Anxiety Sensitivity Inventory- Revised (ASI-R) during pre-test, post-test and one-month follow-up.Findings: The analysis of variance with repeated measures showed that EYE movement desensitization and reprocessing reduces anxiety sensitivity (P<0.05) in patients. Conclusion: The results suggest that EMDR can be considered as one of the therapies for migraine headaches.

Abstract:

A 65-yrs-old man referred for an ocular discomfort and red EYE. The clinical diagnosis was leech in the left EYE and its species confirmed as being Limnatis nilotica. Ocular leech infestation should be considered in patients with a history of swimming or washing their face in streams and lakes. Attention should also be given to ocular leech infestation in the differential diagnosis of ocular trauma with iris prolapse.

Abstract:

In spite of rapid advances in keratorefractive surgery in recent decades, the most common method for refractive error correction throughout the world is glasses, the discovery of which is attributed to the Persians. Other advantages include protection of the EYE against trauma and radiations, correction of phorias and tropias and cosmetic reasons. The purpose of this article is to describe and review different components of glasses (frame, temple and lens), sunglasses, photochromic and polarizing glasses, antireflective and mirror coats, progressive additional lenses and also recommendations about frame selection.

Abstract:

Introduction: EYE trauma is a common cause of one-sided blindness in children and teenagers. Blunt trauma can cause rupture of orbital cavity and the herniation of its content may affect the nearby sinuses leading to hemorrhage in the anterior chamber (hyphema).Traumatic hyphema that specially happens in the EYEs with blunt trauma can be followed by high infra ocular pressure, corneal staining, cataract, injury of the optic nerve and sever loss of visual acuity (VA). Early diagnosis and treatment of this complication can prevent the later and worst complications. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of traumatic hyphema and its complications in EYE blunt trauma.Materials and Methods: According to a cross- sectional descriptive protocol, we studied 83 patients with EYE blunt trauma who referred to the EYE clinics of Bahman 22nd and Farabi hospitals. A formal questionnaire was designed to be completed for personal particularities of each patient as well as the information about the examinations of orbit, cornea, AC, lens and optic nerves. In addition, the Intraocular Pressure (IOP) and initial VA were recorded. Then we analyzed these records and evaluated the prevalence of hyphema and its complications in EYE blunt trauma. Results: This study shows that hyphema is a common complication of EYE blunt trauma that occurs in approximately 50% of the patients with EYE blunt trauma.36.1% of the patients were in the age group of 20-40 years old with an average age of 36.7 years. There were 65.9% males and 34.1% females. The most common causes of trauma included projectiles (48.8%) and assaults (36.6%). The most common associated symptoms with hyphema included red EYE (56.09%) and dark vision (48.7%).The most frequent occurring complications included sever decrease of initial VA (75.6%) and high IOP (48.8%).Conclusion: Hyphema is a common complication of EYE blunt trauma that may lead to other complications like sever loss of VA and high IOP. So, thinking of and searching for hyphema in any patient with EYE blunt trauma can help us to diagnose it at early stages and prevent other complications.

Abstract:

Mohi al-Din ibn Arabi in line with the emphasis of the Islamic gnosis tradition on the immediate and intuitive knowledge, bases his mystical viewpoint upon a kind of immediate knowledge to which he refers as ‘intuition’. In contrast to the reality of this cognition which is beyond sense and wisdom, it is known and referred to as the ‘EYE’. Ibn Arabi utilizes the expressions ‘EYE of the heart’, ‘EYE of insight’ and ‘EYE of certainty’ in a broad semantic range and nominates certain features for each. In some cases, these expressions represent the general concepts of intellect and reason and in some others the specific meaning of ‘immediate intuition’. Their most specific use is manifested in al-Tadbirat al-Elahiyah. In this text ‘EYE of insight’ and ‘EYE of certainty’ both stand for heart, while the former looks at the divine light-a divine means for guidance-, the latter looks to another divine light towards which God's creations are guided. On this basis, heart as a divine being for the vision of compassionate manifestations, in a mystical systematic interaction with the source of light, realizes the intuition of the realities.

Abstract:

In this research, the possibility of using Rapid EYE satellite imagery for mapping the crown distribution of oak trees in Zagros forests was investigated in the Dashtebarm forest area of Kazeroun, Fars province. In this study, data quality was investigated geometrically and radiometrically and geometric correction of the images was done using a linear method and using precision ground control points. In order to investigate the use of artificial bands obtained from appropriate processes in the classification process, images of appropriate plant spectrum indices were created by mapping the bands and images of the main components using the principal components analysis (PCA index). The vegetation map of crowns of trees was measured by measuring the crowns of trees in square sample samples with an area of 400 square meters in a randomized way. 70% of samples were selected as educational sample and 30% of the rest were randomly selected. Two-point and polygonal classifications with two maximum likelihood algorithms and support vector machines were performed on the original image, the processed bands, and the main image composition of the processed bands. The results of the accuracy assessment of the maps in this study showed that the highest overall accuracy and Kappa coefficient were 98. 52% and 0. 97, respectively, in the point of processing with processed bands and maximum likelihood algorithms, as well as by composition of the original image with processed bands and support vector machines algorithm (SVM). Also, in the polygonal classification, the highest overall accuracy and kappa coefficient of the maps classified using the processed bands were 87. 50% and 0. 75 with the maximum likelihood algorithm and 90. 78% and coefficient Kappa 0. 81 has been supported by the car engine algorithm. In general, the results of this study showed that Rapid EYE images are suitable for preparing the crown distribution map of forest trees in Zagros forests.
