Abstract:

The Dark Personality traits have expanded as a new and integrated model of combining existing Personality theories and in the last decade, it has attracted a lot of attention in the field of Personality pathology models. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of pathological Personality dimensions in predicting Dark tetrad Personality traits. For this purpose, 400 people (226 women and 174 men) were selected from the students of Tabriz universities by convenience sampling and were evaluated in terms of Dark tetrad Personality traits and the pathological Personality dimensions. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that the five dimensions of pathological Personality including negative affectivity, detachment, antagonism, disinhibition and psychoticism are related to the Machiavellianism, narcissism, psychopathy, Sadism. The results showed that Machiavellianism predicted by antagonism; psychopathy predicted by antagonism and detachment; narcissism predicted by antagonism, detachment and negative affectivity; Sadism predicted by antagonism. It is noteworthy that antagonism as one of the pathological Personality dimensions predicted all four Dark Personality traits. It can be concluded that the Dark Personality traits can be rooted in maladaptive Personality dimensions and aspects.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between Dark triad Personality traits and online self-disclosure. The present research is a correlational type of study. The population of the present study includes all B.Sc students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University, among them three hundred and seventy-five students (175 female and 200 male) were selected, using proportion- stratified random sampling method. They were asked to respond to self-disclosure (attitudes, interests, study, money, Personality and body) and Dark Triad Personality (Narcissism, Machiavellism and Psychopath) Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results of Pearson correlation showed that there were positive correlations of machiavelism with subscales of study/work, Personality, body and total self-disclosure, and psychopath with subscales of body and total self-disclosure. Finally the results showed that there were positive correlations of narcissism with subscales of interest and study/work, Personality, body and total self-disclosure. The results of stepwise multiple regression analyses showed that among three Dark Personality traits, two Personality traits, narcissism and machiavellism, were predictors of online self-disclosure. According to the results of the present study, the role of two Dark triad personalities, narcissism and machiavellism, on internet self-disclosure was confirmed. This result can help internet users, especially students, to discover interests and Personality characteristics of individuals with high internet self-disclosure in cyber atmosphere and increase knowledge and predict exploitation of these people.

Abstract:

Objectives Machiavellianism, Narcissism and Psychopathy are often referred to as the Dark triad of Personality. This study explored the relationships of those personalities with three factor Personality models.MethodsThe current study was conducted in correlational descriptive research context. A group of 203 normal participants from Tabriz Payame noor university students answered to MACH-IV, MCMI-II and EPQ-R Personality questionnaires. Data analyzed using the stepwise multivariate regression analysis method.ResultsAccording to three factors model of Personality, Machiavellianism was correlated to neuroticism (r=0.46, P<0.01) and psychoticism (r=0.32, P<0.01), Narcissism was correlated to psychoticism (r=0.17, P<0.01) and extraversion (r=0.17, P<0.01), Psychopathy was correlated to psychoticism (r=0.43, P<0.01) and neuroticism (r=0.43, P<0.01).ConclusionThe Dark dimension of Personality can be described in terms of high psychoticism, according to three factor Personality model.

Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of present study was to examining the psychometric properties of the Iranian version of Short Dark Triad (SD3) in students.Methodology: The study sample consisted of Bu-Ali Sina University students in 2015-2016. 376 students were selected based on multi-stage cluster sampling. To study psychometric characteristics of the scale, Dark Triad scale was translated with doubletranslation technique and finally, to evaluate the psychometric properties of the scale, it was administered along with Millon clinical Multiaxial inventory (MCMI), Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) and Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-16). Collected data was analyzed and reliability, validity indicators and confirmatory factor analysis were calculated.Findings: Analysis of the collected data showed that the scale has the reliability of 0.65 to 0.82 alpha coefficients in three subscales, In addition, the concurrent validity of the scale with subscales of psychopathy, narcissism Machiavellianism Millon clinical Multiaxial inventory (MCMI), Attentional impulsiveness, Motor impulsiveness and Non-planning of Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS) and Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-16) was equal to 0.21, 0.31, 0.52, 0.33, 0.18 and 0.37 respectively. Moreover, the results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the factor structure of the questionnaire. Short Dark Triad (SD3) has favored psychometric properties in Iranian students.

Abstract:

Background and Aim The concept of resilience has been recently extensively considered concerning sports studies; accordingly, in most qualitative studies, it has been used to explore the attitudes of coaches, athletes, and sports psychologists. In this regard, the present study aimed to determine resilience in athletic students based on Dark triad Personality and psychological wellbeing. Methods & Materials This was a descriptive and correlational study. The population of the study consisted of all male students of Guilan University of Physical Education in the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020. A sample of 200 individuals was selected by convenience sampling method; then, the required data were collected using Sheard et al. ’ s (2009) Resilience Scale for Adults, Jonsson and Webster’ s Dark Triad Personality Questionnaire, and Ryff’ s 18-item Psychological Wellbeing Scale (1989). The obtained data were analyzed by SPSS using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Ethical Considerations This study was approved by Research Ethics Committee of Guilan University of Medical Sciences (Code: IR. GUMS. REC. 1398. 121). Results The present research results suggested a positive and significant correlation between the resilience of the examined athletic students and narcissism (r=0. 495, P<0. 001), self-acceptance (r=0. 598, P<0. 001), purposefulness in life (r=0. 556, P<0. 001), personal growth (r=0. 648, P<0. 001), the mastery of the environment (r=0. 645, P<0. 001), positive correlation with others (r=0. 569, P<0. 001), and independence (r=0. 381, P<0. 001). Moreover, there was a significant negative correlation between antisocial behavior (r=-0. 557, P<0. 001) and Machiavelli’ s aspect (r=-0. 604, P<0. 001), and the explored students’ resilience. Additionally, multiple regression analysis data revealed that Dark triad Personality and psychological wellbeing predict 62% of resilience in the study subjects. Conclusion The current investigation results signified a significant correlation between Dark triad Personality and psychological wellbeing, and resilience in athletic students. Accordingly, educators and teachers need to pay more attention to the role of psychological wellbeing and different dimensions of athletes’ personalities for promoting the health and performance of students.

Abstract:

Background: Management Personality is one of the critical factors influencing their behavior in performing earnings management (EM). As a result, the Dark (negative) Personality dimensions can play an effective role in earnings management. On the other hand, ethical leadership can act as a moderating factor; this research measures the effect of ethical leadership style on reducing Dark Personality dimensions (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism) of effective person in earnings management. Method: The present applied research uses descriptive-survey method and the correlation approach. The statistical population of this study is companies listed in the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) and Iran Fara Bourse (IFB) from 2011 to 2019 and based on some limitations 77 companies used in this research for testing the hypotheses. And standard questionnaires of Dark Personality and ethical leadership and financial statement data have been used. Also, the multiple regression test and structural equations model used. the data were analyzed using R 3. 1. 2 and Lisrel 8. 8 software. Results: The results show that most of the effective persons in earnings management are the CEOs of companies. The results also indicate a positive relationship between ethical leadership and Dark Personality dimensions (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism). Conclusion: The results indicate a positive relationship between ethical leadership and the dimensions of the Dark Personality; This is due to the closeness of dimension of "Narcissism" to the issues of intrinsic leadership, and on the other hand, this issue could be considered close to the perspective of the person involved in earnings management and supervisors and lack of belief in ethical supervision and leadership.
