Abstract:

DERMATOPHYTOSIS is one of the zoonotic diseases. The control of zoophilic agents in human depends on its control in animals. Prevention of this disease in animals depends on information about its etiology. So this study was conducted to determine the causative agents of sheep ringworm in Ahwaz. In this study, during four months (March to June 2002) a total of 150sheep showing clinical signs of ringworm infection were mycologically examined. For this purpose, collected samples were inoculated on Sabouraud's dextrose agar with cyclohexamide and chloramphenicol (SCC). Trichophyton verrucosum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes were collected from 19 and 8 sheep respectively. There was also a mixed infection of T verrucosum and T mentagrophytes. The results showed that only 18.6% of skin lesions may be due to dermatophytes, which must be noticed in the treatment of skin lesions. The disease was less common in adult animals and its prevalence was more in April.

Abstract:

Background: In spite of prevention and control programs, dermatophyte infections have a high prevalence worldwide. Objective: To do a descriptive study of DERMATOPHYTOSIS in Guilan.Patients & Methods: 217 patients whom were visited in Razi Hospital in Rasht in 1381 were screened for DERMATOPHYTOSIS and if had suspicious lesions, direct smear with KOH and culture were done. Results: 93 patients had positive smear (KOH 10%) and culture for dermatophytes. 50 patients were women and 43 patients were men. The most common patterns of DERMATOPHYTOSIS were tinea cruris (47.2%), tinea pedis (14%), tinea capitis (12.9%), onychomycosis, tinea manum, and tinea facei. Trichophyton mentagrophytes was the most common causative agent of tinea cruris that occurred more significantly in hot seasons. Conclusion: Tinea cruris was the most common type of DERMATOPHYTOSIS in this study. High prevalence of tinea cruris specially in women in comparison to the previous studies, may be due to occupational activity (agriculture) and clothing of women in north of Iran.

Abstract:

The prevalence of ringworm was studied in 400 horses in different areas of Golestan province. Trichophyton equinum var.equinum was isolated from 6 (1.5%) of them. The infection rate was high in truck horse and the incidence increased during the summer. The majority of lesion was located on the neck. No significant difference was observed between age groups.

Abstract:

The relationship between ABO blood groups and DERMATOPHYTOSIS was studied. Blood grouping was done for 308 dermatophyte-infected patients. Eighty six patients belonged to blood group A, 68 to blood group B, 34 to blood group AB and 120 to blood group O. The patients with blood group 0 and A were the most dermatophyte infected persons. Chronicity of the disease was more frequent in those with blood groups A and O. Our study suggests that blood group A subjects might be more susceptible to Trichophton mentagrophytes (TM) , Trichophton rubrum (TR) and Epidemophyton  floccosum (EF) than others.

Abstract:

This research was done to survey the DERMATOPHYTOSIS prevalence in Gonabad primary schools in relation with demographic features and health behaviors in the year 1378 in a descriptive - analytical method.Cluster sampling was used and schools were selected in a simple and randomly method. Results: In this Survey all infected ones on hairs of their heads and all other parts of the body as: trunk, feet, hands, face, groin and nails were not infected, then according to the prevalence of tinea capitis infection on the students head of girls and boys in Gonabad primary schools in year 1378 was equall to 3/4% that 27/6% of the infected ones stand for urban schools and 72/4% for rural schools and this infection prevalence was sequence 1/9% and 5% for urban and rural schools.79/3% of the boys and 20/7% of the girls were infected. The results also showed a meaningful relationship between tinea capitis infection and using common tools like: comb, towel, bed, hat and scarf, infection and the family size, and living area but it didn't show a meaningful relationship between a bath at home and bathing times with infection to the disease. Conclusion: In general the results shows that there is a meaningful relation between infection to . tinea capitis with lifestyle, health habits, demographic characteristics, direct contact of children together at home and school.Boys are three times more suceptible to Tinea capitis than girls, it's couse may is in more likely of injury in their head skin in playing and less attention of them for obeying of health principles in compare with girls. The existence of suceptible condition for infection in rural areas in compare to urban areas can be a vision for prevalence of tinea capitis in the students of rural areas. Then paying attention to health - education and school health, finding the infected people and curing them in rural schools of this city seems necessary.
