The term “Military DENTISTRY” always stirs people's curiosity, whilemilitary DENTISTRY does not differ much from the discipline of DENTISTRY. This field is the same as the science of DENTISTRY that places in specific situations and locations of military. So, for the welfare of the troops, it should have certain characteristics that are coordinated with the purposes of this group of society. Type of patients, equipment and planning for education in this special group are different from other segments of society. Also, this field requires certain individuals as military dentists, and people also teach them should have special conditions In this review, it has been tried to clarify the importance of military DENTISTRY. In our country, in order to develop this important branch of the discipline of military medicine, the cooperation of all professionals and researchers in this field is mandatory.

Background and Objective: The main aim in medical education is teaching students to carry out certain duties in future. The Restorative DENTISTRY is a very important dental practice in our country. The aim of this study was to determine General DENTISTRY restorative curriculum's adaptation to restorative DENTISTRY service needs in community.Materials and Methods: In this quantitative cross‐sectional study consisting of two phases, data was gathered by two valid and reliable checklists. In first phase, the restorative dental services of 1027 patients in a dental clinic sampled over a period of three months were analyzed by statistical software SPSS.17 and the results were reported. In the second phase, we provided a list of syllabuses and restorative lessons with summarized results of the first phase to Tehran and Shahed University restorative faculty members and asked them to express their views about General DENTISTRY restorative curriculum's adaptation to the analyzed needs in last phase and results were reported.Results: In first phase, 2362 cases of the restorative service were considered. The results showed that all the syllabuses of restorative curriculum met the restorative needs of the patients. But the amount of time allocated to teaching “theoretical cardiology” and “practical restorative DENTISTRY3” did not meet the students' needs.Conclusion: Restorative lessons syllabus was suitable but time was not sufficient. So the amount of time of teaching should be added to fix the deficiency, so that the quality of education can be promoted. For this purpose using new methods of education via educational package, films and modules may be useful.

Background and Objectives: All individuals have specific rights within healthcare system and patient’s bill of rights is regarded as person’s knowledge in health context. Awareness about patient’s bill of rights by the patient and healthcare staff is considered as an important part of delivering high quality healthcare services.Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the patients who referred to dental clinics and private offices in Tabriz in northwest of Iran. Study sample consisted of 500 participants. A total number of 600 health centers were identified in 10 regions. In each region, according to the number of health centers, 20% of health centers were selected randomly. Within clinics, five participants were chosen based on random. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23 and applying Pearson Chi-square test.Results: Among 500 distributed questionnaires, most of the participants (31.9%) were in 25-34 years old range. In awareness and knowledge section, 94.8% of the participants believed that dentist must give enough information about the procedure before and after treatment. Regarding the right to have access to health record, only 40% believed that they have right to get access to their health record.Conclusion: Education level has a significant impact on the awareness level of patients toward patient’s bill of rights. Encouraging individuals to continue education in higher levels and delivering information about patient’s bill of rights through media will promote individuals’ health.

Introduction: Career choice is one of the most important decisions every individual makes in his life. Meanwhile, choosing DENTISTRY as a job should be accomplished with more precise considerations because changing this job is rarely possible. Thereby, this study was done to determine important factors in choosing DENTISTRY among first and second year DENTISTRY students in Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2005.Methods: All first and second year DENTISTRY students from Kerman School of DENTISTRY (n=52) participated in this descriptive study. A valid and reliable questionnaire asking about students’ demographic characteristics and their motivations for entering DENTISTRY was distributed as group administered. The result was analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test along using SPSS 11.5.Results: The most important motivation for choosing DENTISTRY was "relationship with people", whereas manual working was the least important motive. Male students were more likely to be motivated by income while female students were more likely to be influenced by their parents' advice.Conclusion: Relationship with people has a high position in DENTISTRY profession. Therefore, DENTISTRY is considered as a social job. Since, income is an important factor for male students compared to females, this factor can be used for encouraging male students to choose DENTISTRY as their profession.

Objectives Acupuncture is one of the best known complementary therapies in Traditional Chinese medicine and has a history of more than 2500 years. Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system and shifts the perception of pain signals and also releases natural painkillers, such as endorphins and serotonin. Main aim of this article is to review related articles that have focused on acupuncture and its applications in DENTISTRY. The other objective is to maintain a quick sketch of acupuncture use in DENTISTRY for dental clinicians and to encourage them to use acupuncture with the knowledge of its advantages and disadvantages Dental clinicians have to be familiar with the applications of acupuncture for dental disorders because its successful use for dental conditions has been proven. Methods A detailed search was performed to identify systematic reviews and research/original and review articles, using PUBMED, EBSCO, GOOGLE SCHOLAR and CDSR from 1990 to 2017 in both languages English and Persian to clarify the application of acupuncture in DENTISTRY. Results Various studies have shown that acupuncture can be used to manage wide range of disorders in DENTISTRY such as dental pain, altering pain threshold, myofascial pain, temporomandibular disorders, gag reflex, dental anxiety, chronic muscle pain or spasm, TMD, Atypical facial pain, Headache (tension headache, migraine), (dry mouth), Nerve pain (neuralgia, especially trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathic pain, nerve injury), Paresthesia or anesthesia of the oral and perioral structures. However acupuncture's ability as dental analgesia or controlling post-operative pain after dental surgery as a single therapy is questionable. Conclusion On the systemic review of acupuncture-associated articles in Cochrane library, previously effective acupuncture therapy lacks adequate evidences, which may be related to the low quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in this context.
