Abstract

BACKGROUND AND AIM: THE SEVERITY OF HELICOBACTER PYLORI-RELATED DISEASES IS CONNECTED WITH THE PRESENCE OF CAGPAI GENE CLUSTER. THE MAIN AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE ASSOCIATION OF H. PYLORI CAGPAI INTEGRITY WITH EXPRESSION PROFILE OF GENES RELATED TO GASTRIC CANCER IN PATHOLOGICAL SUBJECTS.METHODS: WE ANALYZED INTEGRITY OF CAGPAI OF 30 H. PYLORI STRAINS THAT WERE ISOLATED FROM PATIENTS WITH SEVERE ACTIVE GASTRITIS (SAG), MODERATE CHRONIC GASTRITIS (CG) AND INTESTINAL METAPLASIA/DYSPLASIA (IM) BY PCR. IN CONTINUE EXPRESSION LEVELS OF P53, APC, E-CADHERIN, EGFR, ERBB2, CYCLIN E, B-CATENIN AND MMP7 WERE MEASURED BY QUANTITATIVE REAL TIME PCR.RESULTS: COMPLETE SCREENING OF THE CAGPAI STRUCTURE SHOWED THAT LARGER PROPORTIONS OF POSTIVE CAGPAI STRAINS (52.4%) INHABITED IN PATIENTS WITH SAG, FOLLOWED BY CG (33.3%) AND IM (14.3%). NEARLY, 87.5% OF INTACT CAGPAI STRAINS WERE FOUND IN PATIENTS WITH SAG, WHILST 12.5 % OF CG POSSESSED COMPLETE CAGPAI AND NONE OF THE IM PATIENTS HAD AN INTACT CAGPAI….
