Abstract

BACKGROUND AND AIM: FOR MANAGE OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT BACTERIA AND NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS, PATHOGENIC BACTERIA AND THEIR ANTIBIOTIC SUSCEPTIBILITY PATTERN SHOULD BE STRUCTIVE FOR REVISED THE HOSPITAL POLICY. FOR THIS REASON, THE CURRENT STUDY AIMED TO DETERMINE THE PREVALENCE OF UROPATHOGENIC BACTERIA AND THEIR ANTIBIOTIC SUSCEPTIBILITY PATTERN IN PATIENTS REFERRING TO IMAM KHOMAINI HOSPITAL DURING PERIOD NOVEMBER 2014 TO APRIL 2015.METHODS: 20 DIFFERENT UROPATHOGENIC BACTERIA WERE COLLECTED IN IMAM KHOMAINI HOSPITAL. THE ISOLATES WERE IDENTIFIED BY CHEMICAL STANDARD METHODS, SUBSEQUENTLY WERE SUBJECTED FOR ANTIBIOTIC SUSCEPTIBILITY ASSAY AS CLSI GUIDELINE. THE RESULTS WERE ANALYZED BY SPSS SOFTWARE VERSION 16.RESULTS: THE RESULTS DEFINED OF 20 COLLECTED BACTERIA, 55% (N=11) WERE ESCHERICHIA COLI, 15 % (N=3) WERE KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE, 10 % (N=2) WERE STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS, 5% (N=1) WERE STAPHYLOCOCCUS EPIDERMIDIS, 10% (N=2) WERE PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA AND FINALLY, 5% (N=1) WERE ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII. THE FINDINGS DEMONSTRATED THAT 6% SHOWED POSITIVE RESULTS FOR METHALO BETA-LACTAMASES (MBL). THIS DATA WAS 11.8% FOR EXTENDED SPECTRUM BETA-LACTAMASES (ESBL). METHICILLIN RESISTANCE WAS ONLY FOUND IN ONE S. AUREUS….
