Abstract

BACKGROUND AND AIM: URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS ARE THE MOST COMMON BACTERIAL INFECTIONS AND THE USE OF ANTIBIOTICS IS ESSENTIAL. RESISTANCE OF THE CAUSATIVE BACTERIA TO ANTIBIOTICS IS AN IMPORTANT REASON FOR FAILURE OF TREATMENT. KNOWLEDGE OF COMMON BACTERIA AND ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE IN EVERY AREA CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE SELECTION OF APPROPRIATE ANTIBIOTIC. THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO INVESTIGATE THE FREQUENCY AND RESISTANCE PATTERNS OF BACTERIAL STRAINS ISOLATED FROM URINE CULTURES IN PATIENTS ADMITTED TO FARSHCHIYAN HOSPITAL.METHODS: IN THIS CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY, 7600 URINE SAMPLES WERE ISOLATED AND ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING DIFFERENTIAL DISK DIFFUSION METHOD WAS PERFORMED ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR CLINICAL LABORATORY STANDARDS (NCCLS). DATA ANALYZED BY SPSS SOFTWARE VER.16.RESULTS: THE MOST COMMON BACTERIA ISOLATED FROM THE URINE SAMPLES WERE ESCHERICHIA COLI (36.56%), ACINETOBACTER (15.66%), KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIA (10.44%), PSEUDOMANAS AERUGINOSA (9.14%), STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS (6.52%), STAPHYLOCOCCUS EPIDERMIDIS (5.98%), ENTROBACTERCLOACAE (5.54%), STREPTOCOCCUS B GROUP (4.13%), STREPTOCOCCUS D GROUP (2.93%), CITROBACTERDIVERSUS (1.95%), HAFNIA (0.76%), PROVIDENCIA (0.32%). BASED ON THE RESULTS, EFFECTIVE ANTIBIOTICS ON BACTERIA WERE AMIKACIN FOR E.COLI (41.9%), ACINETOBACTER (9.7%), KLEBSIELLAPNEUMONIA (16.6%), PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA (58.3%), ENTROBACTER CLOACAE (5.8%), CITROBACTERDIVERSUS (11.1%), HAFNIA (14.2%) PROVIDENCIA (33.3%), GENTAMYCIN FOR E.COLI (49.7%), ACINETOBACTER (11.8%), KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIA (42.7%), PSEUDOMANAS AERUGINOSA (61.9%), ENTROBACTER CLOACAE (15.6%), CITROBACTER DIVERSUS (22.2%), HAFNIA (14.1%) PROVIDENCIA (0.0%), CIPROFLOXACIN FOR E.COLI (36.6%), ACINETOBACTER (8.3%), KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIA (15.6%), PSEUDOMANAS AERUGINOSA (46.4%), ENTROBACTER CLOACAE (13.7%), CITROBACTER DIVERSUS (50.0%), HAFNIA (28.5%), PROVIDENCIA (66.6%), NITROFORANTOIN FOR E.COLI (55.0%), …
