Abstract

 BACKGROUND: THE BEHAVIORS OF NNS LIGANDS WITH METALS HAVE STIMULATED RESEARCHERS TO SCRUTINIZE THEIR NATURE OF COORDINATION AS WELL AS THEIR STRUCTURAL AND SPECTRAL FEATURES. ALONG WITH PARTICIPATING IN DIFFERENT REDOX REACTIONS, SUCH LIGANDS STABILIZE METAL ION IN UNUSUAL OXIDATION STATES, LEADING TO CREATE UNCOMMON COORDINATION NUMBERS IN THE RESULTANT COMPLEXES [1]. SCHIFF BASES CONTAINING TWO TYPES OF HARD NITROGEN AND SOFT SULFUR DONOR ATOMS ARE ABLE TO COORDINATE WITH WIDE RANGES OF TRANSITION AND NON-TRANSITION METAL IONS, PROVIDING STABLE AND INTENSELY COLOURED METAL COMPLEXES WHICH FOUND TO BE HELPFUL HAVING CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC CHARACTERISTICS [2]...
