AN ENGINEERING METHOD TO EVALUATE CUCUMBER FRUIT BASED ON ACOUSTIC TECHNIQUE

Abstract

 EVALUATIONS OF QUALITY ASSESSMENT HAVE BEEN ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CONTEXT AND THERE ARE MANY RESEARCHES IN THIS FIELD. IN THIS RESEARCH A SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED BY AUTHORS THAT FRACTURED THE SAMPLES AND SAVED THE ACOUSTIC RESPONSE SIGNAL CREATED COINCIDE WITH FRACTURE. BY THIS SYSTEM THE CHANGING OF ACOUSTIC RESPONSE OF CUCUMBER FRUIT DURING STORAGE WAS EVALUATED. ACOUSTIC SIGNALS WERE ANALYZED AND 3 ACOUSTIC PARAMETERS (MEAN OF THE AMPLITUDE, VALUE OF FIRST PEAK FREQUENCY, MEAN OF MAGNITUDE VALUES FROM TOP FIVE PEAK FREQUENCY) WERE EXTRACTED FROM FREQUENCY SPECTRUM.THE TESTS WERE DONE 1, 3, 6 AND 9 DAYS OF SPAN STORAGE IN REFRIGERATOR CONDITIONS. ACOUSTIC RESPONSE GIVES A GOOD INDICATION OF TEXTURAL CHANGING FOR CUCUMBER DURING STORAGE. ACOUSTIC PARAMETERS WERE DECREASED WITH STORAGE TIME. AS FOR TEST CONDITION ACOUSTIC PARAMETERS WERE VARIED BETWEEN 41.97%-79.62%. ACOUSTIC TEST MIGHT REPLACE CONVENTIONAL TEST FOR CUCUMBER TO EVALUATE FRUIT TEXTURAL CHANGING DURING SHELF LIFE.
