Abstract

 BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE(S): POLYCHLORINATED BIPHENYLS (PCBS) ARE GENOTOXIC AND CARCINOGENIC POLLUTANTS THAT INFILTRATE VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTS SINCE THE EARLY DECADES OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. BIOCONCENTRATION OF THESE LIPOPHILIC COMPOUNDS IN TISSUES CAUSES OXIDATIVE STRESS CASCADES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE PATHOGENESIS OF CANCERS AND NEURODEGENERATIVE DISEASES.
