Abstract

LIGULARIA PERSICABOISS. IS AN IMPORTANT GENUS OF THE COMPOSITAE FAMILY (TRIBE SENECIONEAE). THE PLANT WAS COLLECTED DURING THE FLOWERING STAGE IN JULY 2011. WE PROVIDED ESSENTIAL OILS WITH CLEVENGER-TYPE APPARATUS FOR 2 H. THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE ANTIBACTERIAL EFFECTS OF ESSENTIAL OILS OBTAINED FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF L.PERSICA. ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY WERE TESTED ON 2 GRAM-POSITIVE (STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS AND STREPTOCOCCUS SUBRINOS) AND 2 GRAM-NEGATIVE BACTERIA (ESCHERICHIA COLI AND PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA), USING MICRODILUTION METHOD. THE MINIMUM INHIBITION CONCENTRATION (MIC) OF THEL. PERSICA WAS 71.67ΜG/ΜL AGAINST PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA. THE ESSENTIAL OILS FROML. PERSICA ROOTS SHOWED HIGHER INHIBITORY ACTIVITY AGAINST ALL OF THOSE BACTERIA.
