 BACKGROUND AND AIM: UROPATHOGENIC ESCHERICHIA COLI (UPEC) ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ETIOLOGIC AGENTS OF URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI). THE ABILITY TO ATTACH TO THE HOST CELLS IS ESSENTIAL STEP FOR PATHOGENICITY OF ORGANISMS. AFIMBRIAE ADHESION IS IMPORTANT VIRULENCE FACTOR OF UROPATHOGENIC ESCHERICHIA COLI.
