Abstract

THE TOMATO LEAF MINER, TUTA ABSOLUTA (MEYRICK) (LEPIDOPTRA: GELECHIIDAE), REPRESENTING TODAY A MAJOR THREAT TO THE PRODUCTION OF TOMATO IN IRAN. IN THIS STUDY, THE EFFECTS OF SUB-LETHAL DOSE (LC25) OF FLUBENDIAMIDE ON THE BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TOMATO LEAF MINER MOTH WERE INVESTIGATED FOR 48H. THE CHARACTERISTICS STUDIED INCLUDING THE INTRINSIC RATE OF INCREASE (RM), FINITE RATE OF INCREASE (L), GROSS REPRODUCTIVE RATE (GRR) AND NET REPRODUCTIVE RATE (R0) WERE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER IN THE TREATMENT GROUPS THAN IN THE UNTREATED GROUP. OUR RESULTS SUGGEST THAT SUB-LETHAL DOSE OF FLUBENDIAMIDE MAY REDUCE POPULATION GROWTH OF T. ABSOLUTA BY AFFECTING ITS SURVIVAL, DEVELOPMENT AND REPRODUCTION.
