ESTIMATION OF GENETIC PARAMETERS OF 10 NATURAL HYBRID CLONES (HALF-SIB) OF POPLAR IN KERMANSHAH PRVINCE, IRAN.

Abstract

 POPLAR IS WELL RECOGNIZED IN SHORT ROTATION FORESTRY WORLD OVER. THE10NATURAL HYBRID CLONES WERE PLANTED IN A RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCKS DESIGN WITH THREE REPLICATIONS. THIS EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED IN THE MEHREGAN RESEARCH STATION OF KERMANSHAH IN THE WEST OF IRAN DURING 2001– 2010 AND THE 10 YEAR’S GROWTH PERFORMANCE WAS EVALUATED. RESULTS SHOWED THAT POPULUS.DELTOIDES63/10 HAS GIVEN MAXIMUM PLANT HEIGHT (15.44 M), P.DELTOIDES 63/10 HAD MAXIMUM DIAMETER AT BREAST HEIGHT (21.06 CM), P.DELTOIDES 63/10 HAS GIVEN MAXIMUM WOOD VOLUME (18.40 M3/HA) AND P.DELTOIDES63/10 HAS GIVEN MAXIMUM DIAMETER TO HEIGHT RATIO (1.37). RESULTS OF GENETIC FACTORS SHOWED THAT HERITABILITY OF DIAMETER TO HEIGHT RATIO WAS 46.36% AND FOR PLANT HEIGHT WAS 44.36 PERCENT. THERE WAS HIGHEST GENETIC GAIN FOR THE WOOD VOLUME 78.96% AND THE MAXIMUM HERITABILITY WAS FOUND FOR DIAMETER TO HEIGHT RATIO (36.58%).THE HIGHEST GENOTYPIC, PHENOTYPICAND ENVIRONMENT COEFFICIENTS OF VARIATIONS WERE FOUND FOR WOOD VOLUME (60.71%), (96.16%) AND (74.57%) RESPECTIVELY. THE PHENOTYPIC CORRELATION COEFFICIENT WAS HIGHEST BETWEEN DIAMETER AT BREAST HEIGHT AND WOOD VOLUME (0.986). ON THE BASIS OF 10 YEAR GROWTH PERFORMANCE, FOUR CLONES INCLUDESPOPULUSDELTOIDES63/4, POPULUS DELTOIDES 63/7, POPULUS DELTOIDES 63/8 AND POPULUS DELTOIDS 63/10 ARE FOUND SUITABLE FOR PLANTING IN THE SAME CONDITIONS TO THIS EXPERIMENT IN THE KERMANSHAH PROVINCE.
