Abstract

 CKGROUND AND AIM: IN THE RECENT YEARS, COAGULASE-NEGATIVE STAPHYLOCOCCI (CONS) HAVE EMERGED AS IMPORTANT CAUSATIVE AGENTS OF ILLNESS; THEY ARE THE MOST COMMON MICROORGANISM THAT ARE ISOLATED FROM CLINICAL SPECIMENS. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE AND MECA FREQUENCY IN CONS ISOLATED FROM NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS.METHODS: THIS STUDY WAS PERFORMED ON ONE HUNDRED CONS ISOLATES. ALL ISOLATES WERE TESTED BY CONVENTIONAL BACTERIOLOGICAL TEST. ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING WAS CARRIED USING DISK DIFFUSION METHOD, AND THEN STRAINS ANALYZED BY THE PCR FOR THE PRESENCE OF MECA GENE....
