Abstract

INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE: KLEBSIELLA SPP IS OPPORTUNISTIC PATHOGENS THAT BECAUSE HOSPITAL ACQUIRED WITH EXTENDED-SPECTRUM BETA-LACTAMASE (ESBL) PLASMIDS DEGRADE BETALACTAME ANTIBIOTICS, INCLUDING PENICILLINS AND CEPHALOSPORINS ARE EXTENDED SPECTROM BETALACTAMASE. ESBLS ARE BETALACTAMASE ENZYMES, WHICH ARE A SET OF INCREASINGLY WIDESPREAD AMONG BACTERIA, ESPECIALLY THEY ARE IN THE ENTEROBACTERIACEAE FAMILY. THESE ENZYMES ARE ABLE TO HYDROLYZE ANTIBIOTICS BETA-LACTAM. AWARENESS OF THE ENZYME-PRODUCING GENES IN PATHOGENIC BACTERIA SUCH AS KLEBSIELLA AND ALSO IN TERMS OF THEIR PREVALENCE IN COMMUNITIES CAN HELP PREVENT AND TREAT INFECTIONS CAUSED BY THEM.
